I can't fathom this. Sometimes it works fine (a typical page loads in a second or two - my connection is between about 512kb and 1 meg) but usually it can take around thirty seconds for a page to load, even a google search. Internet explorer consistently loads up pages in a couple of seconds.

I've tried re-installing, creating new profiles, I've tried to see whether its one of the add-ons that I use but I can't come up with a solution.

It's super annoying! Any ideas?

Do you get the same thing in IE when it happens in FF?

Nope. Never.

It seems to work better once its been loaded for a while - I'll keep experimenting with that though.

EDIT: Nope it started doing it again without re-starting. It seems totally random.

Choose to empty the firefox cache when you close it. There is an option in firefox, but you can do it manually with ccleaner etc too. Also, download and deploy Inifox.

When you created a new profile, what did you add to it?

What's happening while it's apparently slow, i.e. hard disk activity, CPU use?
