Firefox 'open file...'

Hi all,

For some reason, Firefox doesn't offer me the option to open to - well, I can't remember what it says in Firefox but the IE equivalent is 'open this file from it's current location'. When I click on a downloadable file all I get is 'save to disk' or 'Flashget'. The other option has disappeared. Any ideas how I might get it back?

Isn't it at the top of the dialog box? If Firefox can't work out what program opens a file it should grey out the option I think.

Nope - usually would be there, but it's not even greyed out. Just not there at all.

For some file types, you aren't offered the "download and run" option - what type of file are you trying to download?

I've tried lots of different....rars, .avis, .torrents - stuff that worked previously but suddenly aren't any more. I can't think of anything I've changed either.

Remove FlashGet.

It messes around with your FF system. I installed it, found it was a right pain in the bum when trying to download stuff without it and removed it...now download etc. work fine.

You can also disable it from being the 'default download manager' in it's settings, which should fix your errors.
