I am trying to force all new windows to open in tabs rather than windows.

According to http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/tips#beh_reuse I should be able to add user_pref("browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs", true); to reveal extra tab options in the advanced options.

I've added this to my user.js but the options are not appearing.

Anyone got any ideas or has this been removed from Firefox 2?

Just middle click any links?
Do you want the middle click functionality with a left click?
Think of the millions of old tabs you'd have when reading forums or something.

Nope, doesn't work:

That's what I used to use but it's incompatible with firefox 2

There is a beta/rc version that works, the link is in the dev. comments in the Tab Mix Plus page on the addons bit of the FF site. The final version will be out soon from what I gather.

Fantastic - thanks, all working now :)

Popups will always open in a new window. With the option I posted above it'll open new window links in another tab, but it'll still open popups in a new window.

Popups open in a new tab now that I've found a compatible version of Tab Mix Plus
