Hi.

When I am on facebook, and someone messages me, I get some error about quicktime that comes up a couple of times then Firefox crashes.

Any ideas.

Thanks
Will.

I don't have ideas but I do have the solution ;)

When a message is received on messaging apps like on Facebook a small mp3 file is played as notification, FF tries to play this notification but cannot as probably Facebook have not set up the mime-type or whatever correctly since other sites are fine etc.

Solution:
Download QTLite, close FF and during install tick the "Enable MP3 Support" box.

Can I ask, why do I need to do this? It was fine before without installing additional software, or is it due to a recent update?

Something FB have changed, probably set the mp3 file called to look for a quicktime connector to play the file as the embedded media type.

QTLite should be installed anyway though, it's much better than QuickTime itself as it's non intrusive, a codec to play and DL QT stuff if you will.
