Firefox spell checker

Since a reinstall of vista my firefox spellchecker has stopped working, its enabled in options :confused:

In what way has it stopped working?

Is

Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> Check my spelling as I type checked?
Spell check this field checked if you right-click a text box?
the en-GB dictionary installed (it'll be listed in Addons as British English Dictionary)?

Mine's never worked.

It only works if I use linux. :confused:

It's all ticked and enabled etc.

Ah thanks, firefox was showing English dictionary as current selection for spellchecker & spellcheck box was ticked, didnt realise i had to download a add on(pretty sure i didn't have to before)

It isn't an add-on, but Mozilla can't distribute any dictionary other than en-US (license term, should be dealt with eventually, etc.).

Ah hah...now it works. Even though it was on GB English in the spell checker you still have to install GB Dictionary in the add-ons...strangeness, at least it works now though. Thanks

Mine is all set up and spell checking, but, upon a right click, only the standard right click menu shows, any suggestions?

Doesn't seem to check spelling at all in safe mode?

I shall see if a new profile does it and report back.

Right, OK, so it works with a new profile.

Safe to copy the contents of my old profile into the new one to copy my add-ons etc quickly, or, do I need to do all that jazz manually?

If the old one has a problem, copying into the new one will only replicate the issue. Doing it in steps would be best.
