Ive had an unexpected shut down :/

When ive rebooted and opened FF and my normal profile has vanished and its back to the defualt with no bookmarks or owt :(

Ive seen threads on this in the past and i may have made one myself but could some kind soul tell me how to get it back with minimum fuss

Your profile lives at %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[random letters and numbers].[profile name]. Odds are Firefox has created a new one, so there should be two folders, one will have a load of stuff in it and one will have next to nothing. You can guess which are the old and new profiles.

If you're using Fx2, your bookmarks should be in bookmarks.html and a series of files in bookmarkbackups/ corresponding to when the backup was made.
 
Thanks Tolien that was the first place i went to, ive found the folders but i only had one profile in there :confused:

I can set up FF as it used to be but how do i get my bookmarks back into that profile

Ive got 2 back ups, 1 is all my old bookmarks dated the 11th and then one for the 12th which is 1kb big :/

How do i get those bookmarks back into this profile?

Well ive lost it all now, after having a play to see if i could copy the right profile over to the new one ive somehow lost the original folder somewhere :/

Back to a nice new boring profile with no bookmarks or owt

Or maybe a new browser because im seriously ****ed off with FF now !
 
There's a lock file in the profile which tells Fx the profile's in use, deleting it would stop those messages.

It's hardly Fx's fault if you've deleted the files :confused:
Is there anything left of the profile, or is it all gone? You should at the very least still have the contents of bookmarkbackups...

File -> Import.

Nope :/

God knows what happened to it, i was following some steps off a website on how to copy the profile back over and it vanished leaving me with just the default

That when i started getting the message i posted further up

Suppose its knackered then :mad:
