To make the middle mouse button do nothing but scroll, no tabs, no links, no copying, no pasting... I just want to use it to scroll and exit scrolling.

It's so irratating that I have to check where I unscroll for fear or clicking on a spam banner add or simply wasting my time scrolling back from a random link.

How do you make it stop? I have tryed everything in about:config with no luck.

I'm only using firefox because since Microsoft updated IE it crashes on every other website.

Any one? I hear so many good things about it... it's a decent browser but people make out like it's the best thing since sliced bread.

go for Sea Monkey, can customize what middle button does, so it just scrolls and no tab opening etc, and its a nice browser, quick too! :)

The TabMix Plus extension will let you choose how the middle button will behave, amongst other things.

That said, if you've got a Logitech Mouse, this is down to how the drivers use the middle button.

Well i justed tested it on this page, you can just left click and it should stop the scrolling the same way the middle click does.

Middle click, scroll, left click when you're finished scrolling. No mods, no extensions.

What should I click to exit scrolling then? right click and open up the menu box or left click and still have to worry about where the pointer is?

Thanks for the plugin Scottland, will try that.

I'm not going to comprise free scrolling because of bad software design... not when I constantly hear about the brilliance of firefox.

tried opera, I can make the middle mouse button do what I want on it... but the widgets are crappy... no google tool bar with a spell checker etc.

Any other browsers I should try?

Can't say i've ever had that problem, does every page you look at have links everywhere?....

Alternatively, when you click the middle mouse button, keep it held when you press it, release it when you're done. ;)

Have you used Internet Explorer?

I really can't see what your issue with FF is?

Of course, like I said since the update it's crashed on every other page. I usually just browse forums so yeah, 80% of the page or something is made up of links.

Thanks for telling me about the release thing, I'll just do that from now on. ;)
