Firefox

What exactly is PaleMoon? Never heard of it before, the website talked a good game but after installing it simply opens firefox (with all the same bookmarks and extensions) which I can only assume to be an 'optimized' firefox as a pose to a separate browser.

Higadeb, does it run when I run firefox directly or only when I run PaleMoon?

Palemoon sifts through the firefox installation files and optimizes them. So whenever you run firefox you run palemoon as it uses the palemoon optimized files. When/if you uninstall palemoon firefox returns to normal.
This way palemoon can integrate all of your addons etc. that firefox can

Firefox..!

Being serious - your best bet, like Fire Wizard said, is to ignore the partisan bickering and try out the browsers yourself. Definitely upgrade to IE8 - it can't do your system any harm - and download Chrome, Firefox and Opera. Each has its own benefits. You spend a lot of time using your browser, so it makes sense to pick one which makes sense to you rather than relying on others. All of the modern browsers are really pretty good.

I have only used IE and FireFox, for me i prefer FF because as previously stated IE's tab system was woeful thelast time i tried.
For me wen i startup FF after booting pc i go, Bookmarks --> Open all in tabs.
My most visited sites are up and running instantly, no waiting.

I do plan on checking our chrome wen i install Win7 sometime this week wen my OCuk bundle arrives with Win7.

Chrome is new on the market, seriously. I don't trust a browser that has been out 1/3rd of the time Firefox has. Firefox is excellent, as it has a massive amount of plugins I can use like Ad-Block, Firebug, etc, etc.

It has actually gone down hill from previous versions, but I hope it to get more stable. No doubt the competition from Chrome will make the developers try harder.

IE is part of the O/S, as it uses part of the Windows Explorer that loads when the O/S boots up. Therefore IE will load quicker, and use less memory then Firefiox.

[Firefox] takes longer to load and takes up more system memory.
Tosh on both counts. Both from personal experience and from other sources: http://lifehacker.com/5395555/browser-speed-tests-the-windows-7-results

Firefox cannot be used with Windows Update.
ok, but why would anyone want it to?

Firefox is however just as good as any IE version, and it certainly holds its own against MS and I use it pretty much as my primary web browser…
Firefox does not hold it's own against IE, it is vastly superior.

The additional load times and memory usage isn’t really that much of an issue with most PC’s these days…..
Indeed, but still a reason to switch to Firefox.

IE doesn't work with Windows update either because Windows update is integrated into Windows now and not the browser.
