Firestick to PC

Hi all;

My PC has three monitors; I've just picked up a firestick and can plug that into my 2nd monitor; My headphones go through my PC, via USB, which is obviously situated underneath my monitors.

Ideally, I'd like to keep the 2nd monitor as a monitor, but be able to see the firestick on the monitor without swapping inputs; Or at the least get sound from the firestick and switch inputs like a peasant :D

Anyone know of any capture devices for the HDMI ports, to be able to display through my 2nd monitor, which it's still being a monitor? :)

Thanks in advance!

I use this which switches between PC or my Satellite Receiver.
It has an HDMI for my Firestick anyway.

Would a HDMI multiplexor be suitable (one HDMI input, multiple simultaneous HDMI out)

Cheers - but this doesn't do sound though, correct? Looks like just a HDMI switcher rather than utilising the PC sound (USB Headphones)

Trying to think how you would get video & audio from any source to one or upto three monitors, with headphone from each source, with switches/splitters (and headphones) and it'll be so many boxes it'll be a nightmare, switches, headphone amp, audio switche etc, I can't think of anything however.

A AVR could work

sources---->AVR
Headphone into AVR
AVR HDMI out----> (as AVR's only have two HDMI out) and check AVR supports PC resolution and refresh ie 4K @ 120hz.
If it doesn't then PC ----> Displayport to monitors ie 4K @300hz. Then analogue or digital audio (coaxial/optical) from PC into AVR
Some AVR's have USB audio in, so you could use that for the audio side

Some AVR's offer dual display out. Can't recall seeing triple out.

yeah not cheap. Could pickup a old AVR, a 1080p model, you'll be limited to 1080p @ 60hz, but at least worth trying out, wire it up see if everything works, bypassing video when possible through the AVR see if everything works as needed, then look into a new AVR that supports resolutions of the sources, or using HDMI for video for video source only (firestick) and then use PC direct for DP/HDMI.

I think my AVR is 1080p only, so anything greater than 1080p would have to be displayport or direct HDMI from source to monitor (but I only have one monitor)

I'm not sure AVR's support all the PC resolutions, I doubt they can support 4K 480hz with VRR

Should be able to pickup a old 1080p AVR for £100. At least you'll have headphone amp from a single source, and will output sound from headphone from consoles, firestick, PC since all audio will be routed through AVR.

3700 has triple HDMI out

Sort of thing need to try out, I've had issues with HDMI from PC going through AVR, so now I go DP from PC to monitor, Optical from PC to AVR

Firestick will plug directly into a HDMI input
HDMI x3 output into each monitor
Headphones into front of AVR
PC into HDMI input of AVR
or displayport x 1 to x 3 to monitors if AVR doesn't support monitor res/refresh. You still may need to do some switching on one or three monitors between DP to HDMI. Or perhaps use HDMI to DP cables, DP to HDMI cables (as apparently similar)

You'd need passive speakers as well.

the other alternative is a analogue/digital HDMI/displayport DAC/ADC/ switch box / multiplexor with headphone amp but if it's more than one box it means multiple connections, input/output switching etc.

4K AVR's should still be cheap enough 4K @ 60hz, but if you want higher refresh then that looking at a HDMI 2.1 capable model, and I doubt they can pass highest 4K/480hz...so some monitor video/input switching may be needed.

Look at usual places for second hand 4K capable AVR's

it definitely does the sound for the Satellite receiver

Still the problem of audio from each source though to one to three monitors, he'd need to plug/unplug from one monitor to the other, or from PC to monitor? Plus the whole thing "monitor headphone out is crap sound" etc

There's this

HDMI in/out (only dual display out)
Headphone amp
USB audio in

No amplifier stages, so suitable for active speakers. He could primary monitor Displayport, then the two HDMI for the secondary monitors 4K@ 60hz.

I'd try a cheap 4K AVR first though for testing sort of thing need try out and head scratching

might have a cheaper solution; Going to try something tomorrow - will update if it works or not! :)

Another option is this. Use that for audio side only, a 2.1 digital preamp.

But you'd a HDMI multiplexor / HDMI audio extactor box, multi in, multi out.
Or use a media streamer box with seperate HDMI & coaxial/optical out, HDMI into multiplexor, optical out into the Emotiva.

You could maybe use a usb headphone dac with optical in and then firestick into hdmi audio extractor with optical out.
