Firestrike score not right?

You are definitely not the first!!

In the interest of fairness: I once built a brand new high-end (to me, at the time) system, but was struck with horror and frustration when I could not get it to power up at all. After plenty of stressing, re-building, and re-checking it turned out I was trying to power it on using the case's reset button...

Haha thanks, Erm well I may or may not have left V-sync on in the Nvidia control panel. I promise it should have been off, I know I remember turning it off. Should have been paying closer attention to the fps. :D

lol
i spent £400 on a new GPU because mine was dead.... nope my hdmi cable was dead.:D

but thats how we learn

Well, if we are sharing dumb stories.

My rma replacement psu came. Fully modular. Never had a fully modular one before. Plug it all in, system wouldn't start. Just came to life for a sec, then reset and tried again. Thought I'd got a duff psu in return.

Turns out, I hadn't plugged in cpu 12V at the psu end. I''m sure I plugged them all in, but apparently not :D.

I've got a story too; it was my first ever build and I was excited but scared at the same. time.
Well when I opened my case I saw screws (standoffs, was oblivious what they were for) and removed them and thought they were junk. So when I was installing my motherboard I was trying to screw it without the standoffs. Then to make it worse i was putting a bit more force on the board thinking the screws would fit. Was stressing out and throwing a temper thinking "why would they give screws when they aren't God damn long enough). Went back to the manual and then realised what those 'junk' standoffs were for .
Anyway, good news, my rig is still running today. This happened 3 years ago
