Firestrike Ultra 4K Bench.

Been doing some ambient testing of SLI 1080's with 8 Pack today, all Founders cards on air with a 6950X and AIO, 8PACK PSU, Team Group Xtreem memory and ASUS' ROG Rampage V Edition 10.

3x 1080 - [*]Score 14982, GPU 1080 @2012/3018, GFX Score 15839, Physics Score 27444, Combined Score 7180, CPU 6950X @4.5, JR23 & 8PACK - Link Drivers 368.39
4x 1080 - [*]Score 19661, GPU 1080 @2076/2790, GFX Score 21510, Physics Score 28106, Combined Score 9385, CPU 6950X @4.6, JR23 & 8PACK - Link Drivers 368.39

How have you managed to get SLI working with 3 and 4 cards ?

I thought Nvidia said they enabled 3 and 4 way for benchmarking only and you don't need the "Enthusiast Key" for it anymore?

Or was that to come in new drivers? May be 8Pack has them already?

Edit: Or not, just noticed the driver version.

The support for synthetic benches in 3 and 4 way SLI is supposed to be in an upcoming driver update.

Other people yesterday have been able to run 3 and 4 way SLI.

nVidia's initial statement was the most accurate, once unlocked the cards can be used for benchmarks and games where of course scaling varies just like before. I don't think it's something they will just patch into a driver for everyone to use, but hey this is nVidia so maybe. Sadly 8 Packs unhelpful answer is exactly how it is right now. Which as a massive fan of 3 and 4-way I find really disappointing too.

There is still no need for an answer like the one 8 Pack gave.

If he can not gives the details for one reason or another if he was to explain why would be quite reasonable.

I do buy nearly all my gear from OcUK but I have decided to scrap the latest build I was planning as arrogant replies like the one 8 Pack gave really kills my interest.

Why would anything I say influence wether you do a build or not?? Dear me.....

Joe has explained it exactly as it is....

May I ask why when u have no clue if they would ever work would u buy four cards?? I tested games not one benefitted from 4 cards. 3 cards in several games was scaling reasonably.

The reason I bought them is because NVidia said they would work in 4 way SLI for synthetic benches.

When I asked NVidia why they did not work in 4 way at the moment they said it would be fixed by a future driver update.

You and other people have proved in the last couple of days that they obviously do run synthetic benches in 4 way SLI.

I don't think it is unreasonable to ask how you managed (along with other people) to get 4 way SLI working for synthetic benches. If you are unable to reveal how you did it then you could give a reason like it is covered by a NDA or whatever.

To simply reply "^ Because I am the 8Pack :-)" is a bit silly isn't it.

This is supposed to be an enthusiasts forum where people help each other.

As to me building anything, what is the point when even people who work at OcUK (where I get nearly all my gear) are unhelpful.

PC building should be fun but some of the people on these forums destroy any enjoyment to be had from doing it.

We all like to get the most out of these things, but I agree with Ian, i think you're throwing money away Kaap considering the level of support if not looking to break records.

Well that puts me in the same boat as 8 Pack as using 4 air cooled 1080s is not going to break any records either.

How people spend their money is entirely up to them.

Ultimately if I never get to use all 4 of my 1080s together I won't be returning them to OcUK, I bought them and it is my problem if NVidia don't ever get around to supporting them.

Have you asked over at kingpincooling Kaap? Theyre normally in the know about that sorta stuff over there. It might just be a case of an edited driver if nvidia dont give out enthusiast keys. Dunno if an edited driver would still count on 3dmark though, do they check its official before the score uploads?

Thanks I will give them a try later.

There is nothing wrong with the Firestrike Ultra bench but it is also not a genuine score. When I ran it I dismissed the result as rubbish and did not expect to see it again.

If everyone can just ignore the score as it was produced by accident. It was produced by a bug in the drivers (a nice one) that most people will never see as you need several GPUs installed and the user making a few setup errors lol.

I have also had something similar happen on a pair of 5970s also by accident.
