just installed a netgear WGT624 v3 on cable and after a few teething troubles it seems to be stable only when my norton personel firewall is switched off.
is this normal and is it safe to run like this
thanks

do i really need a firewall behind a router as it says firewall router ??
Depends what sort of security you want. Your router will effectively block intrusions onto your network from the internet, it won't do anything for any malware running on your PC. That's why it's generally good advice to use a software firewall where you have to explicitly allow individual applications access to the internet.

would i be okay just running the windows firewall as there is some conflict with the router when i use norton firewall??
all this hassle so the kids can have internet in rooms for xmas

Norton conflicting with your router should be the least of your problems if your still using it. In all seriousness just use Windows Firewall with the router.
