Firewire Card

I've installed a Firewire card on in the PCI_E4 slot on my B550 Tomahawk board and it shows up in device manager. However, when I try to change the driver to the legacy one it restarts my PC every time. Trying to capture my late Father-in-laws videos via camcorder.

If anyone has used a firewire card and can help it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

It doesn't recognise the camcorder and all guides I've read so far say you have to use the legacy driver in W10.

I know it sounds daft, but you might get a result through temporarily setting up a vm to run an older OS which is from nearer the time of all that kit. You could pass the FireWire card through to the vm and should see the camcorder .

that worked for me when I needed to run an old car diagnostic kit through a serial port.
