Firewire help

Is it possible to get a USB to Firewire convertor? My mate needs firewire on his laptop but no port.

Dunno about USB to firewire, but you can get PCMCIA firewire cards which might work

I believe you can buy a cable that is usb one end, and fire wire the other...depends what connection he needs I guess...

Or as BENdage said, you can get PCMCIA cards that have firewire connections on them.

Get a PCMCIA card (or whatever they are called nowadays) - don't bother with converters.

Get the PCMCIA card, even if the adaptor thingy works then the USB port won't be able to cope with the demand and if for example you're transferring video footage you may end up with dropped frames.
