hi guys,

havent captured in any video in a few weeks from my camcorder... today i go to connect it up to firewire port and it doesnt detect the camera at all.

Only thing I have done hardware wise is build my machine into a new case.

I had to update bios and stuff so maybe im missing something there.

Strange thing is that the 1394 connection is appearing ok but it just isnt picking up my device.

Any ideas what would be wrong?

ive got the same problem. Ive tried using different cables and ports but no good. The camcorder works fine, ive tried it on my friends machine. He has a pci firewire card though, but it shouldnt make a difference.

im in the process of getting a pci firewire card to see if that works.

yeah its just beyond me.. i thought changing to a new case would be easy.. bios reset on me for some reason and had to update..not its not working.. everything was plugged into the same sockets.

The firewire slot is on the same frame as a usb port and then the cables are connected into the bottom sockets on the mobo.. everything is enabled in bios.

Normally when I plug it camcorder it detects it right away. Really baffling me!

well i got my pci firewire card today and it works fine with it! so i dunno whats wrong with my mobo firewire.
Least theres nothing wrong with my camcorder and pci firewire card is cheap!

good luck getting yours to work. lmk if you manage to fix it.

lucky you!

Its still confusing me.. The connectors are definitely in the wrong place. Only thing I can think of is that the drivers are not the right ones. You know the way you can get generic drivers rather than device specific drivers.

Il check out all the disks that came with the pc and see what i can find.

Will keep you posted if i get it!

Thanks
