Anyone know any good sites can order good cheap fireworks from. going to get my sisters and their BF's to chip in and have a display in back garden or summick.

Few years ago we got some Black Gemini rockets from morrison 6 for 6 quid and bought about 10 packs! they were amazing. huge bangs, huge explosions and most crackled afterwards. honestly i've seen videos of single fireworks costing 20-30 quid and these black gemini were just ask good!

Does anyone know any good sites / fireworks that are relatively cheap and give good explosions etc.

Ah ok! :D

I'm too scared to do my own! Going to go to a display!

Ah it's easy! I did once make the mistake of pinning a Catherine wheel to a sodden fence though. It didn't spin so we were forced to watch it burn a spiral pattern into our fence.

My sister got burned on a firework when we were really little. It was meant to be a "stay in the ground and look nice" one, but it actually went flying over towards us and hit her hand.

Makes me nervous of them!

i remember one year, my mate said he could get a massive amount of fireworks on the cheap £50 for this huge selection of all sorts.

Anywho, one of the rockets we watched the fuse go in , nothing happened. started to glow red hmmmmm yeah lets move. 25 metre save zone. standing 3 metres from it BANG . was a fiarly large firework but did naff all, no one got hurt. then next day in the paper we saw an article on do not buy these fireworks. and it was the exact set we had bought of my friends mate...

no wonder he got them cheap XD

Get a riot shield. They're handy to have anyway.

1. I hope you have the correct PPE for lighting fireworks, for your own saftey. A minimum requirement should be safety specs and gloves along with a portfire or Rothenberger type blowtorch.

2. You should buy fireworks to suit your firing area and safety distances. If you have a small gerden, you should not be letting off larger rockets or large 25m+ cakes (especially fans), for both your safety, your audiences safety and also considering your neighbours and others in the area.

3. Don't by cheap fireworks off the back of the truck/van, you are seriously risking your safety and possibly your life. They are unregulated, of unknown origin and could even be counterfit copies with branded labels stuck on.

If you want proper help on purchasing fireworks, then pop over to the UKFR forum, we are a friendly and helpful lot: http://www.fireworks-forum.org.uk/

Anorak mode engaged.

Completely :D

But with fireworks you can quite easily seriously injure or scar yourself for life.

The amount of videos I see of test fireworks of garden displays showing people running aorund without any gloves or even eye protection is frightening.

I wear my full offshore gear with my fireproof overalls and hard hat included. Even with fireworks securely taped to stakes in the ground I've has some break free, bomblettes explode next to me, heavy clay parts from tube land on me and my hard hat and I've worked and been brought up through my work experience in dangerous environments with strick H&S traiing and take every precaution with my garden displays.

Just imagine what could happen to some muppet not tkaing it seriously.....

thats when i was 16/17 in my mates back garden. this year in my sisters garedn which is about 15 metres long, and will have my 2 year old and my sisters 2 year old and 6 year old there. trust me we aint going to be doing anything stupid. Just want a nice display for kids.

i still wont be wearing gloves, or hard hats just make sure there securly in ground and facing away from crowd.

Cool, jsut wanted to get the H&S stuff out there.

Get some gloves, seriously.... If one goes off early with your hand over it, you'll get nasty burns at the least. It's not worth rsiking for the cost of a cheap pair of gloves and safety specs.

Even with a 15m Garden you shouldn't really be using the big Cat 3 25m cakes and large rockets, but there's nothing to stop you doing so.

In terms of the Cat2 8m cakes there is some amazing pyro out there to choose from. Some of them not far off larger Cat 3 pieces. Plus as they are smaller and cheaper, you can fire them in multiples for great effects.

Absolute - Sunset cakes are under £20 for 2, Absolute - Dazzling Colours is another nice cake. Consider the Kimbolton fountains as they are lush. But the best value pack is probably the Royal Party - Little Stars. 9 small cakes for £40, amazing when fired in groups, did them last year.

If you want to use a larger Cat 3 cake then it's hard to beat Epic - Screaming Spiders or Brothers - Magical Palms. Each of them is aorund £45 and lasts about 50 seconds and a great way to end a display.

It all depends on your budget though. Also, where abouts do you live, one of the UKFR sponsor shops could be close by and would be worth driving to rather than sorting out the hassle of a delivery.

Sunderland north eats england, not sure of budget yet tbh mate. going to see how many people can chip in. hopeing for a nice lil budget of around £100. Would be nice to get a selection box with lots of little tid bits in to spread across time and then some rocket packs for in between and to finish off.

i dont have a clue about the different types of rockets your talking about above. could you link to some that are good price / nice effects etc

P.S think i have some thick gardening gloves somewhere could just bash one of them on
