Fireworks!

Not sure of the sponsors up that way, will take a look at lunchtime.

Cheap rockets are crap and will always be crap. Try and find some Men Shun Air Hawks (also called Bright Star War Hawks' this year. These are a pack of x5 large rockets for £15 and by far teh best value rockets you can get. Us UKFR lot rave about them and go through many packs :D

Otherwise stick to cakes, they are easier to setup and last longer than crap cheap rockets.

Ordering for dellivery this close to teh 5th will be a ballache, so finding some good fireworks locally is probably the best bet, Avoid Dancing Red Devil (DRD) and TNT fireworksm, these are the crap brands that supermarkets seem to be stocking this year. Stick to Absolute, Brothers, Epic, Fireworks International, Men Shun, Bright Star.

A lot of selection boxes will be crap. I would advise a few nice fountains for around £15, a nicer selection box from a known brand around £40, then £50 on some cakes to fire as a sky filling finale. Then a pack of War/Air Hawk rockets for £15 if you can find them.

They are the boys. The have videos of every firework so you can see what your buying.

We had £2000 of their stuff for the boss last year and they lasted about 20 minutes with 5 people continuously letting ones off at the same time.

I've used epic before, and whilst they do have some amazing pieces, it can be quite samey. The prices have also gone up again this year bringing a lot of other 'posh' pyro into the same price range from the likes of Shellscape, Devco, Sovereign etc.

The fireworks to have this year are the Governor 1,2,3 and Royal Party 70 Shot Diamond cake,.

Amazing!!!!

I thought I'd bump this since firework season is almost upon us, maybe if you'd be so kind as to engage Anorak mode again, -Ad-? :p

I'm looking to spend £1,000-2,000 on fireworks for a party, and I'm wondering what's gonna be the best for the money, the selection seems limited from a lot of the places I'm finding, and it seems you need a licence for the tasty stuff? So what do you think would be the best options, anyone?

Cheers!

Don't get ripped off by commercial fireworks.

Spend that amount filling pressure cookers with highly flammable substances, then put them on stoves and run like hell.

It'll be like being in 'nam. Staring into the sky in mild awe is a snoozefest, you want to be running for your life, the adrenaline flowing as the cold terror of losing a limb kicks in.

 < not cool, just blinded by a pressure cooker exploding in my face.

I'll get some info together later. It's an exciting year for pyro with lots of great stuff and new products!

Last time we did fireworks at home the roman candles fell over and shot flaming balls of exploding fire at us, couple bounced off me, I miss fireworks at home.

Had some disastrous rockets from supermarkets the last couple of years - some not even clearing the height of the house before exploding!

Lesson learnt :p

Lidl/Aldi are advertising Weco ones, they any good?
Fancy a few rockets for us and some sparkly fountains n stuff for the nephew

A few of the bits are ok if you're looking to spend a little. But there's an awful lot better out there.

How much you got to spend?

would make a nice finale :D

Boneshaker is an amazing firework but I haven't managed to get one this year. Wish I got it last year.

Best make fireworks ive seen is the absolute fireworks brand, http://www.absolutefireworks.com/

That website is trade only though, I hate when they do that because you could probably get a whole mini display set up from them for relatively cheap price.

Absolute make some nice pieces but they are far from being the best brand out there.

If you have the space (width) in a garden then I highly recommend 'Zero 2 Sixty'. It's a stunning firework, but this year there's been problems getting them in.
