Ok I've had DSLR's for a while now but always shot in jpeg. Now I've had my 5D a while I've decided to try lightroom. Looking for advice and pointers to help me a long please.
I posted a few on Flickr from my trip to the highlands last week. Don't know how to post individual pictures from my ipad but the links here http://www.flickr.com/photos/liamtatts84/

Decent job. Nothing screams out "this is bad" to me, which is typically the case with first attempt posts!

Sharp, good colours, framed well enough. Think you can maybe work on the composition and find better angles/subjects for more interesting pics.

You've pushed the skies way too much in "Eilean Donan Castle" so it looks nasty grunge, rather than moody landscape.

Thank god its all natural processing! You've avoided the trap of over doing things, which most of us fell into when we started messing with the files on various pp programs lol. All look fine to me, but beware of pushing your files a bit too far as the castle one is showing the first signs of it with the slight haloing effect around it. The clarity setting in lightroom is usually responsible for that, so dial back a bit if you can.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.
The castle picture is close to what I wanted but it was a bright sun almost directly on me and I had no filters or hoods :( I'll have another go when i'm home next week using your tips.

Also agree that you've overall done a good job. Nice to see somebody new to processing that hasn't gone all HDR toxic sick.

Flickr actually makes it really easy to share photos on forums. Just go to the share icon on the picture and it will give you an option to show bb code which you simply paste in.
