First bionic thought powered arm!

Technically not the first thought powered arm though is it? I thought the guy sat next to her was the first, as he received his about a year ago. Still amazing though, and they can only get better from here.

It's the first case of a woman receiving a bionic limb, I believe.

Maybe not terminators, but cyborgs yes. US military for sure will be interested in it. And ROBOCOP for the win :D

Can't see it ever being available on the NHS though. :(

The former US Marine....
It is hoped hundreds of American soldiers who have lost limbs in Iraq and Afghanistan will benefit from the revolutionary treatment.

Those 2 quotes from the article would suggest to me that the US military have had quite a lot to do with it....

Thats amazing, wonder if you can download firmware updates :D

20 years from now I can imagine getting emails with

*increase your bionic penis click here*

(not there is anything wrong with it at the moment, but I will be 20 years older then)

US using this...
Sorry but I now have the image of the sergeant on starship troopers... who is sending them on their way at the beginning of the film.
"Mobile Infantry made me the man I am today!"
As he pushes away from his desk with metal arm and two replacement legs as I recall.

Nah I think exoskeletons will be more of an interest than cyborgs.

This certainly is the way forward. No reason why you can't make legs, feet.

That combined with the eye implant which allows blind people to see, we are coming into a new age.

Interesting point though - we've now entered an age where we have tapped into the power of the brain - we can us the nerve impulses (or whatever) to control an external device, i.e. this bionic arm. So the possibilies are endless. Mind controlled cars etc. It'll be a USB connection to begin with, but soon* it'll go wireless

(*after service packs, patches etc)
