Hi.

My Packard Bell iMedia is dead and I can finally build a new pc! Nervous about getting it wrong, so help would be appreciated. I do a bit of gaming but nothing high end. I would just like something a bit better than the old pc, with a mobo good enough for future upgrades, should I get more into gaming, oh and for photoshop etc.

There is a wd 640gb 7200rpm caviar blue hdd, a casecom 500w psu and a radeon ati x1950 xtx graphics card I wanna take from the old rig...

Other components I have chosen as follows...

Intel core i3 2120 processor
Asus p8h67m mobo
Kingston hyper x genesis grey 4gb ddr3 ram
Gelid tranquillo cpu cooler
and I thought id put it all in the sharkoon t9 black n green case... but it has a window in the side and im not sure if the grey fan and ram will look a bit rubbish in there, as a lot of the mobo is blue and so is the light on the psu fan, I might look for blue/green/black parts instead (as i cant find a psu,ram or cpu fan in green, but please let me know if you know of equivalent price/quality products in green)

Would all of this go together okay? Are all the parts worth getting? Im on a bit of a budget 'cause i'm buying my first big motorbike soon, so if im buying more expensive parts than I need to please let me know, though I could go up to 350 at a stretch...

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out

All of that looks good. However I wouldn't try that PSU with anything! Also, that GPU is very, old I'd consider replacing it with something more powerful/efficient. What is your total budget?

I have redone the spec below, I have included a reasonable PSU rather than the heap of junk casecom PSU.

I assume your GPU is PCI-E.

Yeah the gpu is pci-e

Why the change to the mobo? I dont know too much about this stuff but I thought asus would be really good and didnt know if the gigabyte ones would be? Presume they are or you wouldnt recommend...

Could I go for the ocuk psu at the same price or are they not worth it?... I just like the green fan lol, but its not more important than performance.

I dont really wanna up my budget enough for a new gpu, it was in my old pc and ran everything I wanted just fine, besides, I can always upgrade later...

Thank you guys so much for your super advice! And cheers for the heads up to the coolmaster deal!

I have changed the mobo to the Gigabyte one and the psu to the coolermaster. Looked at their cases and quite liked the HAF 912 plus, so gone with that one too.

With regards to psu's... I wanna upgrade my mums ANCIENT pc to something at least usable, was just going to get the same ram as mine, asus p5g41t-m 775 socket mobo with the intel dual core E3400 cpu... would I be able to use the casecom psu, or the 600w dragon psu out of her old pc to power this? She really only uses internet, y'know, facebook, the occasional pop cap game lol. Also, is it safe to stick with the stock fan? I love her, but i'm still a student!
