Hi Guys,

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to PC building. I've been using laptops for years, however, I'm not taking the leap to the PC gaming world due to the continuous rise of Console prices!!

My Budget is £700-£800

Needs: Everything! I need to buy a monitor, Keyboard, Mouse and OS as well. (Ideally the Keyboard & Mouse will be good for gaming)

^ I can buy the keyboard, Mouse & Monitor second hand, I'd just like to be recommended some.

Use: Photoshop, Occasional Auto CAD & Gaming for games such as Skyrim, GuildWars2 & Grand theft auto.

I've already got a surround sound that I use for my tv, could I hook this up to my pc? If So how would I do that? Is it just a case of plugging a HDMI cable from the pc to the surround sound?

As I'm getting rid of my PS3 I'd also like my PC to be a Blu ray player as well.

Looking forward to the advice guys :D I've been reading several threads and the level of help & tips on this site will be of huge benefit.

EDIT: I also don't think I'll be overclocking, as a newbie to PC I don't want to potentially mess anything up.

What you have is pretty decent. You could save some money on that CPU as the 3570k is a over clocking CPU.

The K CPUs are unlocked so they can be overclocked true but they also have a much better IGP than the CPU you are suggesting as well.

The IGP is used by quicksync for video encoding and lucidMVP uses the IGP too boost the GPU during gaming. I would stick with the 3570K a decent value heatsink can be added much later to overclock (you can mildly OC on the stock heatsink but a better cooler is recommended)

I would agree the GB 7850 would be better than the sapphire. He also has used an OEM bluray drive. It's doubtful it will include playback software for blurays so it's best to get the retail unit which does ;)

I suppose, in the end it depends on his budget with the CPU is.
I would suggest the k because you may want to overclock in the future to make you computer more future proof and just to say the 7850 is a great overclocker as well.

Thanks for the help guys.

What about the OS? Can I use any Windows Home disc or does it need to be a specific one when installing from scratch?

Also, has this got built in wifi? or will I need to buy an adapter, if so which do you recommend?

And when I do cable everything, how can I tidy the cables/wires inside the tower? I'm quite OCD and seeing messy cables will drive me mad. :D

If you don't use an ethernet cable then yeah you'll need a wireless adapter.

You'll be able to route most wires through the back of the case so that they aren't visible. Cable ties are your best friend. :D

Hi. You will have to buy the wifi addaptor(PCI Express slot) . You get a networking port on the mainboard but this is for a cable only. Also when gaming I would recommend using a cable.

Keeping the cables tidy depends on the case you buy, some provide nice cable routing options but these cases tend to be more expensive. It usually takes me longer to route and hide all my cables just the way I like it, than what it actually takes to assemble everythng! :P You can use cable ties but be sure to cut of the long ends so they dont block any fans.

Can I just add my comment about the proposed system. I would suggest a better gaming card for more eye candy in games. and at the very least a small sized SSD to boot from.
