Anyone realised he's hasn't really listened to a thing anyone has said for 2 pages of posts? He's asking for suggestions then deciding against them. Here's a suggestion to the OP, create the build you want at the budget you are willing to pay and post it up, the the forum can tell you if it will all work and any problems you might run into.

New list,

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB Hard Drive SATA 6Gb/s - £67.55

Corsair HX 750W Power Supply - £110.10

Intel Core i7 2600K Sandy Bridge *OEM* - £246.20

Asus P8P67 Pro Motherboard - £140.00

Akasa Venom CPU Cooler - £35.39

+1 that the OP is not listening to advice.

@ OP

You've asked for a spec at a given price, and then thrown that price range out of the window. You've asked for advice on this forum and then ignored most of it. You've said its tough making decisions.. You'll find it's always tough to make decisions when you're not taking advice from people.

Now, minor rant over..

My suggestions?

SB i5
Foxconn mobo
650w PSU (antec)
F3 HDD
C300 sdd
8gb ram
Either 6950 or wait for 560

Forget about sli or crossfire; by the time you need the extra gpu power, you'll see an entire new gen of cards available. I've not coated that lot up but it's probably not far from your budget

left HDD the same but don’t know what reliable/quiet/cheaper one to go for yet..

The Samsung I suggested is just as quiet and reliable as the WD one. Even though the WD is using SATA III, the transfer speeds will be the same as both spins at 7200RPM. Infact I believe the Samsung is the better driver overall.

A price cut has been announced for the 6950. I would get that, and when you're up to it, flash it to a 6970. It's very easy and if you need any help flashing it you can just ask us.

There has been quite a few problems with Asus Sandybridge boards, so go with the Foxconn. They're a pretty good brand and they're comparable to other top brands: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-028-FC&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1906

I have to say, good choice on getting the OEM version since you're getting a 3rd party cooler, it's cheaper and I didn't notice OcUK were selling them :p.

Still can’t decide which way to go, i5/i7 sandy bridge?

My bother wants to use his photo shop & possibly edit video/burn to DVD & be able to play any current/upcoming game with no problems. As mentioned he is on a budget, so any more spec help for this £700/£900 (max) build would be grate.

I would say for the budget it will obviously be a single GPU, was originally hoping to go Ndvidia but open to any suggestions.

I have started a list in Excel for the build, so any input on all parts & prices would be grate. Not to sure about what I listed above, will need to take this one part at a time I think.

This is my first attempt at a pc build, & I need all the help I can get from all you expert builders.

I know I can do this & fancied the challenge, just need some help as don’t want to make a hash of things.

Thanks, sorry for rambling on.

i7 is nice but looking at benchies it does not justify the extra. Go i5 save the dough and get better gpu
