right this could be a stab in the dark. but looking at youre pictures and looking at the manual for the motherboard can you double check the front panel connections.
just looking at youre picture it looks as if the pwr switch is plugged into the hdd activity led pins. ( as you say bad pic so could just be the way im looking at it. )
Im my experience the pwr switch is normally the red and white wires
Could be this, you could try taking all the bits out of the case connecting them up and then using a screwdriver to the power pins on the motherboard to start up the PC. Like the following video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZqunOrUWeM
why not just connect the power switch to the correct pins?
May be that motherboard not supports that cpu.
I had it once when moving my cousin's old PC into a new case that the power button on the new case didn't work, after a while of trying to figure out what was wrong I used the screwdriver on the powerbutton pins to figure out that it was the new button on the PC that was the problem. Wasn't impressed as it took me a couple of hours to move the parts from case to case twice to try and figure out the problem. I ended up removing the working power button off the old case and poked it out of the new one so that they could actually turn on their PC.why not just connect the power switch to the correct pins?
