Hey everyone looking to upgrade to a new system. Was going to buy the "Ultima Warlord" but after spending hours on the forums i've decided to try build myself due the the support and knowledge of everyone should anything go wrong (fingers crossed).

Heres what i was thinking:

I want the upgrade to be future proof for a couple of years at least. It is used mainly for everyday apps and video compression etc with some gameplay but doesn't require really highend graphics and also streaming hd video from the internet.

Any advice on improving this setup would be appreciated. Oh and my budget is £650 Max. And i chose the pre-overclocked bundle because i don't have the time at the moment to do it myself but wanted the performance gain straight away. P.s I use XP Pro but will be upgrading to Windows 7 when its released.

looks good, only thing Id change is the HDD, you may not need bigger but youd get better performance from a bigger drive, they have higher caches and denser platters so go faster, this would be my choice, other small thing would be this thermal compund is better
Edit: and yeah optical drive for this one

could swap the 260 for a 1gb 4870.

would swap the dvd drive for a sata version and hard drive to the Samsung SpinPoint F1 320GB.

Ok thanks guys ive swapped out the hdd for Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (WD6401AALS) and the optical drive to Sony Optiarc AD-7240S 24x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM.

Just doing a final check before i purchase that my spec is ok.

Thanks again for the advice.

Good choices - everything looks fine, I've got a similar system to yours, I am sure you will be happy with it.
