Hello all,

I have wanted to build myself a computer for yeah but never got around to it and always get pre built machines.

Well now the time has come and I have put together a build that I think suits my requirements.

I don’t play games much on my computer so graphics aren’t to important, however is must be able to handle Dual Monitor, one playing video and the other for working on. Other than that along as to runs quick and quite I am happy.

Anyway this is the build I have come up with please send any advise you have this way.

Case
Coolermaster Elite 360 Mini Tower Case - Black

PSU
Coolermaster Silent Pro Modular 500W Power Supply

Motherboard
Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H Intel H55

Processor
Intel Core i5 650 3.20GHz

Graphics Card
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4350 1024MB DDR2 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Storage
Western Digital Caviar Green 500GB SATA-II

Memory
Corsair Value Select 2GB (1x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit

Optical Drive
Sony Optiarc AD-5240S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)

Fans
Havent chosen yet so if you have any suggestions?

Do you think I will be to get cooling for the CPU?

I will be running XP for now so no need to more than 2gb of RAM.

Cheers

Jack

You might as well get an i3 for that:http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-311-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=1671 and overclock that to the i5 650 speeds because they are basically the same apart from the i5 has turbo boost.

Or you could change the motherboard to a P55 chipset eg:http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-207-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1495 and stick in a nice i5 750:http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-299-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=1672 which is a quad core :)

Edit : wrong links :(

Doesn't the Turbo boost make any differece then.

I was thinking of overclocking the i5 to get a bit more out of it.

I Should say that I would like to keep the cost under £500.

well turbo boost is just an automatic overclock so if you were planning to overclock anyway its a useless feature. if you could stretch your budget the i5 750 is a very nice CPU. However if your budget is limited an i3 would be perfectly fine for your needs and its a nice overclocker too :)

Right i have put some new specs together for you :)

First one is an i3 with aftermarket cooler and nice 4gb of ram :) i changed the graphics card to a 5450 which is similar to the one you posted but is newer. However it does not have dual DVI it only has DVI, Display port and VGA i dont know if this will be a problem for your dual moniter setup anyway here it is:

i5 750 setup just in budget :) with 2gb of ram:

I just thought i might show you the AMD side :) anyway an Athlon II Quad. Not as good as i5 but is much cheaper and you can go for 4 gb of ram in that setup and an aftermarket cooler:

Hope this gives you some more ideas :)

Cheers Will,

Thanks for the advice. Not having dual DVI is not a problem I have DVI and AGV atm with my current Dual Monitor set-up.

What are you reasons for the different PSU? What will I be getting for the extra cash?

Cheers

The OCZ is cheaper than the Coolermaster and OCZ is still a reliable brand so i dont see why you should spend the extra on the Coolermaster. Just trying to keep costs of it all down :) but the final choice is obviously yours to make :)
