Aftermarket CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler

Thanks for the help :)

Don't go for a cheapo PSU especially when it's powering some expensive equiptment like this unless you don't mind the risk of it blowing and taking everything with it lol

The minimum you wanna get is a BeQuiet 530W or OCZ 500W, but for some headroom I'd suggest a 600-650W of a good brand. Corsair, XFX, Cooler Master, OCZ take your pick, just not own-branded.

Not sure if that XFX is revision 1 or not as you don't seem to be buying from OcUK but the MSI they sell here is definitely revision 1 and can be flashed to a 6950.

I'd also go for a Corsair A50 or Gelid Tranquillo over the Hyper 212+

Everything else looks good.

thanks do you think the XFX Pro 650W Core Edition Power Supply would do the job? but it's kind of pricey cause its gonna start exceeding my budget.

can u explain about the flashing to a 6950. noob here :P

I intend to get the parts from ocUK but i got some of the names for the components from other websites.

Have a read of this about the flashing.

What it will do is unlock your 6950 to perform exactly as the 6970, so your buying a 6970 at a 6950 price:D

Whats your total budget?

Oh and yes the XFXs are great SeaSonic designed units.

Duuuuuuuh I thought you had a 6950 in there but you have a 6850!

I must be going crazy! Don't listen to anything I just said about flashing, that's for 6950 into 6970s!!

Get a 5850 instead! 5850 vs 6850

Something like THIS for the PSU is what I would recommend.

Whatever you do though do not skimp on the PSU you will most certainly regret it later ;)

Where is stulid when you want him huh get him in here for like 2 minutes and he will whip you up a system in like 2 seconds flat! :D

Anyway like I said spend a decent amount on your PSU it will allow you to add more drives and such later on if you desire and give you head room to work with ;) I would say about £100 for a really good PSU is about the norm these days so have a look round and see what you think. There are of course ones cheaper than that but they might not be as good.
