First Build

My first build was an AMD K5 back in 1996, before that id been messing around with a couple of 486 computers id bought from work, just installing memory, graphics cards and modems at the time.

My first dial-up modem was 14.4 kbit/s ...a bit slower than my 100mb connection these days :)

Ive lost track of the mumber of computers ive build in those 16 years but they are still fundamentally the same as they were back then.....just faster.

This is almost as old as I am:L remember when i was a kid the older computers were quite slow and you had to wait about 5 minutes for the dial up :L

Mine was an amd k6-2 400 that i built up with a mate, my proper single first build was an amd barton 2800 which i took my time over and surprisingly fired up first time, 10 years on thats still a rarity as I often forget to plug in stupid little things like the power lead or the power switch into the mobo header.

My recent build I forgot to plug the monitor cable in so was frantically stripping things down when I realised my mistake

My first build ( last year ) went fantastic, i had mixed up two cables on the motherboard, one for the on button on my case, and one for the reset, got them the wrong way round, and freaked out that it wouldn't start, took me a few hours to find out what i had done haha, other than that i was suprised i had accomplished it myself and felt proud :D

hoping i dont make any mistakes like that :/

My first build ( a few years ago now, a Vi**a Machine ) All was well untill soundcard drivers with Vi**a then it id un questionable things with Vairous sections of the OS untill i got mad an put XP on it then it was fine.

If your new make a back up of C: apon installing windows, and for gods sakes only install windows when on HDD / SSD is plugged in ( moving MBR e.c.t is a freeking headache and weekend destroyer )

Also if you can get a 60GB SSD put windows on that and add more Storage after all the basics are done !

i built a small for factor pc with an amd t'bred chip (cant remember clock) radeon 9600gt or something and 512mb of ram to play cs 1.5/1.6

I must say the reg on this pc was amazing and i wish i never sold it :(
