I found my ex a 216si (Bubble) for £300 on eBay, only needed 2 new number plates and it sailed through the MOT

P plate, 70,000k, alloys, new cambelt, head gasket change etc.

Get looking on eBay!

Have you tried the Leicester Mercury? Motors pages come out on a Friday, also Gumtree and eBay

I think you can do better for 895 and in any case the much older mk2 216 with a honda engine is a better bet

The old wedge shape Mark 2 Rover 216s have the Honda engine

I think the newer automatic Mk3 216s might too - not 100% though but the last shape automatic 416 did

When you have a look under the bonnet you'll be able to spot the difference

Autotrader is not a good source for a cheap car as they charge a fair amount to advertise, local free ad's or ebay is where I would be looking.

I don't know, as the local garages round here seem cheap enough and all their stock is on there.
