As the title says i want to know what would be a good first car for me.

I want enough pulling or pushing power :p and it not to be a cut and shut.

Recomendations?

I forgot to mention that :o

Im 17, my budget for the car itself is £1000. I live in a reasonably safe area.

Depending on your price bracket, the MK4 or MK5 Fiesta Zetec 1.25 is a nice first car, as would be a clio 1.2 of some description.

Although as said, it depends on what you can afford.

EDIT: Damn your fast replying skills Kroegen! Although that means my suggestions still stand. Fiesta 1.25 would be my reccomendation!

I reckon you'll do okey with a clio, my mates got one, quite a speedy little thing, nice with an induction kit :D

Why not just stab yourself in the head with a rusty knife? Cheaper, and the effect is much the same as owning a Corsa....

sits back and waits for the bait to reel someone in :p

No, they most certainly are NOT, and this is coming from someone who owned one as his first car. Any corsa he can pick up for £1,000 is going to be a relatively old Corsa B, he will be restricted to the gutless 1.2 8v due to insurance costs most likely, and it has a paltry 40 odd BHP, couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding, and is built like **** to boot.

Corsa B = VERY NAFF!

now replys dont come much mre useful than that

anyway, on the sensibile side, have a look at an ibiza, VAG build quality, nice to drive, not to bad on the insurance. Otherwise fiesta or clios are good choices.
