I've jsut past my test and I thought now would be a good time to see what a good first car will be. Basically, I have £1000 and wondered what I could get for that price that is cheap to insure, since im a male and 18 years old :rolleyes:. I may be doing Pass Plus too so that should drag the insurance down. Suggestions welcome.
As a side note, how much is a basic car stereo with MP3 support? I know absolutely nothing about them.
 
at your age insurance will be a nightmare with most cars, so buy something cheap, low insurance group, and do pass plus :]

nothing wrong with suggesting a nova imo
 
Fiesta 1.25 Ghia is sensible.

I bought a 2.0 Mondeo Ghia X after I passed my test at 18. Insurance was over £2k though. Bargain car price though at £900!
 
This is in my local ad paper: Ford Fiesta 1.25 ghia, 16v, 5 door, navy blue, R reg, 1997, 6mths tax & 12 mths MOT, good runner & in good cond, £950 ono.

I dont think you will get much newer than R/S reg for <£1k.
 
Have you tried all the insurance companies in the sticky?

Even at 18, I would expect to pay £2800 for something along the lines of an Impreza, not a Fiesta.
 
Tried admiral on that Fiesta, £3100 :eek:. I'm not totally sure to put udner type of fiesta though. I just selected Encore 16V randomly really. I'll have a look in the sticky though.

:eek: insurance for me on that is only 1058 and im 17 :) thats awesome may have to buy that car :p
 
how about something german, mk2 golf maybe. older than what's been suggested, should be cheaper too.
