First computer build. Help please.

Im in the same boat, ordered mine a few days ago, just waiting on some out of stock parts before it gets dispatched. I cant wait so i share in your excitement :D

So parts came yesterday and I've fitted it together without complication (I hope).
Only problem is that it only came with 2 sata cables. But having a hdd, ssd and disc drive I need another one which I can't get until Monday. Being the impatient man I am I was wondering if I could leave the hdd unplugged, start up and install windows and then unplug the disc drive for the hdd after? Or would I need them all plugged in for initial start up? Sorry for the rookie question

Thanks

Yes you don't need them all plugged in. In fact when you install windows, you should only have the SSD and optical drive connected until you are done installing everything.

You also need to make sure that you have AHCI enabled in the bios.

Once everything is installed, and you are finished using the optical drive then you can disconnect it, and then connect your standard HDD.
