Well, its finally got me.

5:10, on the way out of work on the way to football, im going down a country lane, and see a new golf GTi coming the other way, theres plenty of room for us both to pass, but I easy off a little bit. Just before we come to pass eachother he darts into the middle of the road, and I take evasive manouvers and turn towards the side of the road to avoid the golf. my car hits *** embankment and drives up it, slamming my wing mirror and passenger door into an overhanging tree root. I come to a standstill with the car resting on the ebankment at about a 40 degree angle. I look over, see the golf gti driver look at me, and drive off !

I've reported it to the police, but as I only ahve the first 2 letters and 2 numbers they arent too hopeful.

good news is im ok.

Lesson learned? yes... if you ever see a car approaching you on a country lane, expect them to try and ram you off :(

Hope you do find him, a mass ocuk beating meet might be in order.

If you have the first two letters and numbers + colour i wouldn't have thought the police would have much of a problem tracking him down?

well, I told them I didnt see there being that many 55 plate golf gtis, let alone with all the other info I have (his description etc)

thing is, the police said even if they do find him, he can just say that he didnt move over and thats the end of it

 ******* hell Gaz! That's awful mate :(

There are some retards in this world. I can't say on here what I'd be feel like doing if that happened to me.

How's the damage?

its not that bad really, just gonna need a new door + mirror assembly, gonna go round some bodyshops and get some prices as I cant afford to loose my NCB (ive just started what would be my 4th year if I complete it, so seems a shame)

The police are ********

What happened to 'leaving the scene of an accident'?

I dunno, I guess if they find him that should go against him, alongside failing to report an accident, but I dunno what the penalties for that are

Shame his mirror didn't clip yours since then you would have some sort of proof.

Did ford sort your car out btw?

yeah, I thought id updated the thread ! turns out the injector timings had mysteriously been reset...

should have hit the Golf really.

yeah, hindsight is a lovely thing, copper at the station said the same, but then followed that with 'however, you might not be standing here now if you did, you could be lying on a hospital bed with nasty injuries

What car have you got?

Did you crash hard? There could be more damage to suspension parts if you knocked the wheel too :(

just a ford focus, all that needs doing is a new door skin/new door and a new electric mirror ... tempted to check out the breakers yards just in case

well...

I got some quotes, and the cheapest I got quoted was £700 ( I had front wing damage aswell)

The £700 quote was based on no structural damage to the door, which he couldnt guarentee wouldnt be the case due to the damage...

Therefore.... I've just bought a different car.....

Details will follow on thursday when i collect it :)

 so whats going to happen with the focus?

traded in....

sadly all.. my diesel loving is over

really happy with what ive bought, its actually imo one of the best cars ive driven for fun and handling... and the engine enjoys a few select tweaks ;)

its.......

a puma !

before the insults begin... this genuinely is one of the best, if not THE best car ive driven handling wise... and the 1.7 VCT engine aint to bad either, the one I've bought is a 'thunder' which I think translates as 'air con and different alloys' totally mint, '02 plate, 44k, ffsh, 1 year warentee, 12 months mot, 1 year RAC cover, free service, really pleased :) checked the ford webby, but its not up there on used cars, guys at the garage said it was a new one in, so guess thats why :)

really impressed, and watch this space for pics on thursday/friday :)

What other decent handling cars have you driven?

Probably best if I just list all the cars ive driven

Current Car - Focus Zetec TDCI 115, Previous Car 306 D Turbo,

Test Driven -
Vauxhall VX220 Turbo,
Honda S2000,
Honda Civic Type R,
Mazda RX8 (High Power)
Skoda Fabia VRS
Toyota MR2 1.8 VVTi (mk3)
Toyota Celica T Sport 190
Toyota Celica 140 (Premium + Sport Pack)
Seat Ibiza Sport
BMW New Mini Cooper
BMW New Mini Cooper S
Renault Clio 182 with cup pack
Citroen C4 VTS
VW Golf v6 4 motion

And then the only other experience is a Formula Ford Racing car on a Scholarship day, and several indoor karts over the years....

Edit:

You must be having a laugh??? A non racing puma better handling than a Civic Type-R and a fiesta st? Not to mention the vx220 and the formula ford etc

....I must be....

The fiesta ST really isnt imo that fantastic, and the VX220 Turbo is a little fast for 'real world daily driving ;) )

as for the formula ford... any chance of making this road legal? :p

spaz said:
In a way I agree about the fiesta, handling is very good, but it's the grip more than anything. However add some eibach springs and becomes much better.

ford offer that as an option now iirc... saw some of the guys on FFOC chatting about it a while back :)

Not talking about road worthyness, you said the pumas the best car handling wise you have ever driven. Im disputing that saying a lot of the cars you say you have driven would have had better handling.

If you can make an Aerial atom, radical or Catherham road legal, im sure you could do the same with a Formula ford with some work:)

fair enough :) maybe im making a bit of a sweeping statement, but I still stand by what ive said, its one of the best handling cars ive driven :)

I think he has just tried out the cars through friends, tests drives and the like.

quite :)

I've driven all those cars over the last 18 months or so... im only swapping as I crashed the focus the other day (read up this thread) and im currently trying to save to move out, as id decided not to change cars until I had my own home... (seems mad to blow 20k on a car when I live at home..)

edit - just checking, all those mocking have obviously driven these cars too.. or are we arm chair drivers here commenting on something we dont know about.... ;) :p
