First crash

Cars coming back on Tuesday, I've asked them to drop it back to me at work as the garage is 20 miles from my work and 40 miles away from my house. They replaced the light, bumper and part of the exhaust. The 10mph crash cost £2300 to repair + 2 weeks of a courtesy car so best part of 3 grand.

Chances are the body shop has inflated the prices and time taken. Insurance repairs are like a golden egg to these places.

No, the chances are not that this has happened. Whilst its true that insurance repairs keep most of these places alive they are certainly not a golden egg. If anything the insurance industry is a neccesary evil for bodyshops - insurers demand complete control of costs, time taken and really hammer down the prices they'll pay for work.

An insurance job is absolutely not a license to print money for a bodyshop. Infact for the bodyshop its usually a license to get screwed over on rate. With insurance work its price first, quality second.

Got my car back today, looks good. Although they emptied my boot which included oil, de-icer, scraper etc into my passenger foot well and the oil leaked. It soaked through the paper they put down to keep the mats clean, a roll of paper towel I use for checking the oil and through the envelope that contained my work contract
