First custom PC, need some questions answered.

Maybe a smaller sad would save you money mate... Even a 60gb one is generally enough for windows plus one or two games you are currently playing.
That's my next planned upgrade :)

I have a 64GB SSD and wish i'd gone for 128GB.. Windows takes up around 30Gb (believe it or not) and the rest is just exe's...

250GB will mean you wont have to worry for many years.

Ethel's spec is a long way ahead of others in this thread..

Have you turned the hibernation file off? Elevated CMD - powercfg.exe /hibernate off.

If you have 8GB of memory that's 8GB of SSD space that's taken up by default. If you don't use hibernate or hybrid sleep (I just use normal sleep) you can free it up.

60gb is only enough for Windows, Office and Internet duties. I've got a 128 and always planned to add a 2nd and raid 0 them, just never got round to it and it's hard to find a matching drive now. My Windows 8 installation is taking up 25GB with the hibernation file turned off, there's nothing else on there, I don't even have an Office suite installed.

Ok lots of information I've been given now, I'll try answer everyone:

That's why you come here isn't it ;)

@oceaness, Maybe I should go to a store and see what 1080p looks like on a 27" monitor to me, also I will downgrade to standard windows now, saves some money thanks.

That's not a bad idea, however, bear in mind looking at screens in a shop is nothing like looking at screens at home, they are often set to ridiculous settings to try and make them look good under the horrendous fluorescent lights in the shop. It would still give you a good idea of the difference between a 1080p 24", a 1080p 27" and a 2560 x 1440 27" though :)

Edit: And oh yeah get Ethers last silver and blue spec  it doesn't get any better than that. Only thing to add, if you are concerned about the cheaper graphics then there's honestly not much in it, a 7970 will give you good frame rates in nearly any game and if you want you can blow the 780 away by adding another 7970 further down the line for the same price in total as the single 780.
