First Desktop in several years

Hello everyone,

I last got a desktop here several years ago and it is just starting to strain a little. I'm completely out of touch of what would be a good build for now and future proofed for, about 5 years (if possible).

My current build has 2x1 TB drives (first one SSD). 12gb Ram, RTX 2070 Super.

I mostly use the PC for gaming - mostly simulation and strategy games - but sometimes a FPS. I tend to use a lot of storage, quickly outgrew the past one with games, photos and music.

Timescale - Ideally before Xmas, but fine with after if needed
Budget - not sure what to expect. Aiming for about £2k - but not sure what is realistic
RAM - I sometimes need to multi-task. I'm thinking 16gb minimum, but more likely 32gb. Seems 32gb is more the norm now?
Storage - perhaps similar to what I had, 1x2TB (SSD?) drive for Windows/Games, 1x2TB for pics/music/documents, so needn't be as fast. Will take more storage on SSD depending on extra cash needed
Cooling - I don't think I work to excess, but current rig does whir a lot, so adequate cooling!
Other - I need it to have WiFi and Bluetooth. I have a two screen set-up already and don't need mouse/keyboard etc. Ideally, old school, and have a dvd/blu ray player (I suspect this makes me very old).

Previous was put together by Overclockers and it went well, so will likely go for that again.

May look at a new speaker set up. Currently, I have a basic pair on desk and subwoofer on the floor. Not much room on desk, so soundbar may work better. And anything smaller on the floor as it takes up a lot of room! But PC is the main focus, sound stuff can wait - as long as it all works!

Thanks for your help. Sorry for vagueness, so out of touch!

If you're going for another pre-build this isn't a bad bit of kit:

I'd aim to buy sooner rather than later if you can, there's currently extremely high demand for RAM and it's seeing prices skyrocket while stock gets cleared out left and right.

You could save around £100 if you installed W11 yourself rather than having it included.

Appreciate your quick response. I will take a look at that. I've looked at the second drive, any issues with the Samsung 2TB 870 EVO? That would be mostly for pictures and music. Assume build is ok for WiFi and Bluetooth? Would this be considered a pretty decent build, i.e. should keep me going for a few years? I like AMD and the specs look good. Anything I could add or tweak if I asked them for a custom build? thanks again

If you're buying RAM and SSDs in the short term you should buy now before prices increase further. GPUs may also be affected soon.

Get a USB one.

Not much room on desk, so soundbar may work better.

I can recommend the SoundBlaster Katana v2 I use unless you're an audiophile.

Should be fine with the Evo.

According to the spec list, the build has both wi-fi and bluetooth.

If you're wanting a speaker upgrade and have the room, you really can't go wrong with Edifier:
