Hey everyone, as you can tell I'm new here so I thought I'd say hello to what seems to be a fantastic community! :D

Never built a PC before but always had a keen interest and as I have managed to put in some decent work over the summer (in between Uni) I decided to give a shot. I do have a friend on hand who helped me spec the machine below but I wanted to see what you all thought of what I'm probably going to purchase over the next week! Thanks for any advice in advance :) haha.

i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell)
Gigabyte Z87-HD3 MoBo
MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III Boost Edition (New Revision GPU)
NZXT Phantom 410 (Black/Orange)
Samsung 120GB SSD 840
Seasonic G Series 450W Modular PSU
GeIL Enhance Corsa 8GB (2x4GB)
Liteon IHOS104-06 BD-ROM
OcUK DVD RW SATA Rewriter

Leaving out peripherals until I'm back at University!
I will be using this PC for gaming mostly - with the occasional dissertation to write too.

Thanks

I can't disagree with the changes made by Hyburnate, definitely worth getting the SSD.

Note: you may be restricted with that case at uni. I was with my cases and so it might be worth trying a smaller case to fit under or in your desk (you'll thank me when you move out as well).

Budget is around £1000 but I'm fairly flexible on that at the moment. Obviously if I can save money I want to but I don't want to at the cost of something important!

And sorry, I'm already at Uni... just heading into my 3rd year - got my new house and moved in. Got a nice big desk and planning on either having it on the desk to admire or just sat on the floor next to the desk but either way I have plenty of room :) but yeh Skylineboy I know what you mean. Moving out for holidays etc is always a pain but I don't mind doing that with the PC I pretty much move most of my kit out for Christmas so it won't be much more to have to faff around with lol :)

And cheers Hyburnate that looks good to me :)
I did want to increase the W on the PSU!

Thanks again! Can't wait to start the build!
