First ever build AMD VS Intel ???

Looking for some input here I'm about to build my first system and can't decide between an AMD or Intel system. This is what I'm going for so far:

Case: Zalman Z9
Ram: Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB
PSU: Swift 500W V2 Silent Power Supply
GPU: Radeon HD 5670 (bought)
1TB Hard Drive + Cheap Disk Drive

Now if I'm going Intel the motherboard and CPU will be:

Pentium G860 or possibly 1st gen i3/i5 depending on price
MSI H61M-P31-G3 Intel H61

Or AMD:

AMD Bulldozer FX-4 Quad Core 4100 Black Edition 3.60Ghz
Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 AMD 760G

Seems to me the AMD is far superior but i've always used Intel so not sure on how they perform. My budget is about £300-£400 max so it's going to be a pretty low end basic machine but any input would be great as like i've said it's going to be my first build :cool:

What's the use for the PC? And stay away from that PSU, if you want a PSU that won't blow up and taking the rest of the system with it when it goes wrong, go for Corsair, Antec, XFX, Seasonic, etc...

Might need a couple of sata cables but that is some serious bang for buck. Shame your GPU is pants (no offence), if you haven't opened it I would return it and hunt for a 2nd hand 1GB 460 or 6850 GPU.
 
It would be used in my games room rigged up to my TV for streaming and light gaming. Need a 1TB hard drive at least for storing my movies ect.

Whats wrong with the 5670 btw? Obviously not the best card in the world but was bought for £20 and seems decent enough

The 5670 won't compliment the processing power in the suggested rigs and become a bottleneck for newer games and higher resolutions. Of course the beauty of building a PC is you can always upgrade it in the future.

That's the plan, build a basic PC, see how much I really use it and then upgrade accordingly. The 5670 was only bought after looking at benchmarks and it seemed pretty reasonable for the money

It's a matter of balance bud, you can add more storage or a SSD as needed very easily. Had there been a 1TB B grade HDD for £40ish I would have used it ;)

The i5K is MASSIVELY better than the Pentium and "Faildozer" CPUs you are looking at. The Z68 mobo is also superior to the H61. It has USB3 and sataIII as well as the overclocking option for the i5K

The 5670 is NOT a gaming GPU, the 5770 would have been considered a cheap gaming GPU. Compare the better 5770 to the 460 I suggested and it's thrashed before you even think about overclocking the 460. I still own a 460 clocked at over 800Mhz (stock is 675mhz on the benchmark) and it still performs well. DX9 games (eg Skyrim) are no problem, DX11 titles need a little tweaking but can be run ok too :)

Got to be honest the GPU is a spare part from a previous project (bought old system upgraded then sold) and will most likely upgrade in the near future, it's just a question of money atm.

I've always had the plan of getting an i5 but didnt think it would be possible on my budget.
