First full review of AMD Ryzen 5 1600 is here

Just a few thoughts:
CPU is not launched officially so after launch reviews might run with better bios/etc.

As it seems these reviewers doesn't had the latest Total War patch which as Gamersnexus tested gave the 1700/1700x above 20fps boost in that game.

Apart from these its in ~10% of the 6700k at 2/3 price so quite good.

Dunno why people people being so harsh - it's an early review so accept it for what it is. Sure it has some flaws.
I can only guess they've compared it to an i7 because it's the ultimate in 4 core processors from both camps, although of course the 6700 has been superseded but is closer to the price of the 1600. The £60 price difference is about normal for AMD comparable products so maybe comparing the £220 to a £285 i7 chip isn't too bad after all?
Regarding the memory @ 2400 issue, that's a trend now it seems so I don't understand why people expecting the review not to be released because of that
Overall, we know the AM4 platform needs some work. It's good value however and better reviews will come along but please don't class good reviews as those that satisfy what you always want to hear, we need good balanced reviews.
If it had matched the 6700 I'm sure nobody would be complaining about the i7 comparison :D

Your average person isn't going to fanny around for weeks trying to get stable ram speeds.
Then the average person shouldn't be doing "reviews" people want informed reviewers not some idiot in his bedroom. As for fannying around it's a known fact Samsung b die memory runs at rated speed without issue. (3200 being max ATM)

I also don't think it's fair to expect reviewers to have to tinker for ages to 'fix' the issue. Just because a review doesn't meet with your satisfaction I don't think it's fair to resort to 'idiot in a bedroom' comments.

Fact is Ryzen struggles in gaming benchmarks. Did their share price not drop because of such a fact or is easier to make excuses and pretend it's not happening?

I know Ryzen will get there in the end but your going to be awfully busy with damage control on the 11th I feel.

There is no tinkering involved if used with the right memory. I'm not even defending ryzen here the fact is it's a **** poor review. Wait for someone who knows what he's doing before making a decision is what I'd say to potential buyers.

The difference now though is not that it didn't reach satisfaction, it is that the reviewer some how took a known working board, bios and RAM and then couldn't get it to work yet on the MSI board a number of people have had plug and play no problem and even reviews from other sites have shown this.

There really is no problem with the gaming benchmarks either or the results being shown generally but because people jumped to conclusions and that is why the reports went out and shares went down. Not because it actually has issues with regards to performance as has been proven since initial.

So it isn't really fact at all that it is struggling and no-one is making excuses or pretending its not happening but most educated people here can see that it has teething problems as would be expected on new architecture.

We can see the facts that it actually give Intel a good run for it's money in gaming scenarios and at the same price point rather than deciding to compare it to the top end Intel gaming chip it is also much much closer. It also beats Intel in a number of games and that will only improve over time.

It's worked out wonderfully for share holders in the know. AMD stocks were at rock bottom before the Ryzen announcement, then they sky rocketed when early press releases appeared. Get those sky high shares sold off and, following the middling gaming reviews, buy them back at the new lower price.

All I'm seeing in this thread is arguing over what's better lol. Competition is good for everybody! More cores will prevail........

The issues with Ryzen have put me off upgrading for a while yet and I consider myself reasonably savvy. Are there new updated reviews showing the gaming performance not being sub standard?

Those 8 Pack bundles have lower clocked memory as it wasn't working or something.

This is what ryzen can do with fast memory. Note that these aren't even patched for ryzen yet either. The future looks bright (RAM dependant)

If it's that simple then why isn't 8 Pack selling his bundles with the right memory and guaranteed 3200 speeds?
