Whoa hang on everyone.
People are recommending 1080s and 1080Tis and the OP only has a 1080P monitor. If he won't be going 1440p 144Hz+ or 4K 60Hz+ then there is no need for a 1080 or 1080Ti. At 1080P 60Hz a 1060 or RX580 is more than enough.
Of course, if the OP wants to upgrade the monitor sometime soon, a top tier card makes sense.
I would avoid X99 for gaming PCs. That's really just not what it's for. You can do fine with Intel's mainstream platform. Something like an ASUS Z270-A and a 7700K would be more than enough.
Keep in mind that Ryzen is out now, and even though not a lot of stuff is optimized for it, it is still a phenomenal value for money and it multitasks like a champ. Still, for straight gaming, Intel is still the master.
Also keep in mind that it would be wise to wait until early September when Z370 and coffee lake i7 is out which will be 6 cores for the price of the current 4 core. Basically if you wait a month and a bit you get 2 more cores for free. Worth the wait IMO.
I just don't see the value in recommending something like a GTX 1060. The 1070 would probably be the best option for 1080p with room to move up to 1440p but with prices being as they are it isn't that much of a stretch to go all out for a 1080.
Perhaps a 1060 is still a good about as a stop gap card if OP knows he will likely upgrade again when nVidia Volta comes out and he can go get a 2070 or 2080 in a few months time. The 1060 will certain tide you over until they release without dropping £400-600 on a graphics card you are intending on replacing again.
