Hi,

This is my first ever hi-fi purchase :D, my budget is a meagre 130 pounds for this I can get (from my local)

1x Cambridge Audio A1 amp
1x pair or Wharfedale Diamond 9.0 or Q acoustics 1010i

What do you guys think? Currently using some Sony 2.1 speakers and I feel like upgrading :)

That will be a massive upgrade from what you've currently got. Are you looking second hand at all? You'll push your budget even further if you can go second hand... :)

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, got any recommendations? Don't mind using ebay, but for the speakers I mentioned they seem to go for a bit more than in store

Doesn't look like a bad deal, certainly an upgrade!

In terms of second hand, I've managed to get a Yamaha AX-396 + Castle Kendal II speakers for £100, sound mint! I have no idea how they compare quality wise with your setup though? Anyone know?

How are you going to drive this new setup? iPod, laptop??

For that budget you should be able to squeeze something from Arcam (Alpha 7 or 8) or NAD (C320) and push to Wharfedale 9.1s, which would sound a whole lot better IMO.

Thanks for all the replies :)

On the hunt for a second hand NAD 320 amp, as for speakers thinking either@
