First/last console you bought and why

The first console a bought was the Nes. Back in the day i had a friend who had everything (you know kind) all the latest toys etc.
He had his parents buy him a Nintendo Entertainment System.
I remember going round there one day and he was playing Super Mario Bros, i had never seen the game before and was instantly hooked, i needed my own.
My parents wouldn't buy me one so i had to save hard for about a year and a half from birthdays, chores etc until i could afford it.

The last console i bought was the Wii U. With the PS3, 360 and Wii heading towards the end of their cycle Wii U was on the horizon and i was looking forward to the first new "next gen" console to arrive.
Zombie U caught my attention and the new Super Mario Wii U also had me excited so that's why i bought one on launch.
 
First console was a Sega Master System, My parents got me a Commodore 64 for Christmas; The light fantastic pack. I was too young to understand how to use it and my older brother didn't show me how to use it correctly, so it got exchanged for the Master System (when Dixons did returns). I got the light gun pack with Hang-On and Safari built in and Ghostbusters game.

I had it for years and gave it to my nephew when I went to college and got my first PC (386).

My last console I brought was a Sega Master System Compact... lol from a carboot two weeks ago for 8 pounds with Alex Kidd built in, reliving the memories of a the ye old times. Since getting it I've spent over 100 pounds getting the games I've had as a kid, borrowed and rented.

The next console is likely to be a Vita, maybe a PS4... but I need to clear this bucketlist of games I have on the PS3 and PSP first.
 
Sega mega drive, brother in law gave it to us as kids, shinobi, streets of rage etc were the bomb back then. Was in the sega for a while, never touched a Nintendo system as a kid.

Last console was an xbox one which I got a good deal for, pretty much strictly as a multimedia device though.
 
my parents bought me an amstrad cpc 128 from the loot newspaper- it had 3.0 inch floppy disks and I played araknoid :)

Latest is xbox one purely for fifa 14 :o
 
If we're talking consoles, not speccy's, commodores, etc. Then it would be the Sega Master System.
I don't remember many of the games, though I don't remember playing the hell out of Wonderboy in Monster Land.

As for the 1st console I actually bought, that would be the N64.
Went round to a mates and watched him play Mario 64 and was completely wowed by it.
But still being in school and not having a full time job, I went to desperate measures to get 1. I did several boot fairs and sold nearly all of my Mega Drive and Super Nintendo games.

I know a lot of people love the N64, but after a couple of months, I started to regret that decision and to this day I still do.
Give anything to get my old collections back. :(

Just remembered, my dad bought a Coleco Vision with an Atari 2600 add-on from my Uncle, that was before the Master System.

First games console i played on was an old Atari 2600.

Now first one i actually bought? It was a Playstation 1 after saving up and getting help from my parents.

Last one i bought is a Playstation 4 and really loving it.

First was a Mega Drive to play Desert Strike
Latest is an XBox to use Coinops so i can play Desert Strike again :)
 
First :mega drive shared with my brothers, favourites:sonic 3+knuckles

Last:xbox one (probably won't get anything else this gen) ... Bought as I prefer the Xbox platform (live and controller), May get an older cheap ps3 to play uncharted/tlou but I hate the controller =X

First games console I got was a SNES. I got it as I'd been gaming on C64, Amiga 500+ and just fancied a change. My parents had got an Atari 2600 beforehand, but the SNES was the first games console I purchased with my own money. It was pretty epic and enjoyed a heck of a lot of games on it.

Last console I got, it was a Wii U. Got it for Mario Kart, and whilst its a great console in its own right, it just not seeing the same amount of gametime the Ps4 is getting. Shame, as overall the Wii u is a great machine, but the Ps4 is just appealing to me so much more. Don't regret the Wii u, Mario Kart alone justified the purchased.

Why? I've had every PS before it - why break the habit of a lifetime?

Funny thing is I bought a 360 Connect for the mrs (was it 2 years ago? can't remember!). Anyway I think it's been switched on once. She got really frustrated with the camera she just switched it off. Ever since it's stood there vertically in our TV cabinet!
 
First console I had was an Atari 2600 given to me as a main Christmas present when I was 5.

First console I actually bought myself was a SNES. Think I was 7 and had to save my pocket money for a year to afford it.

Last console was a PS3, solely for Borderlands. Keep meaning to buy a PS4 but I've got about a dozen games for PS3 that I haven't played yet.
 
My first console was a Master System II with Sonic built in, my brother had Alex Kidd built into his iirc. Latest purchase has been a Vita back when it was released in 2012, I'd like a Playstation 4 but can't really afford it right now. :mad:
 
I can't really remember my 1st console.but is was probably the Mattel Intellivision.
The last console I bought was the Onlive microconsole which I'm quite impressed with.
 
3DO was my first console, dad bought it for me for when I went to his house when I was a toddler.

Xbox one, because I am a mug.
 
The first console that I bought was a PS1.
The first I played on was an Atari 2600. I used to like Joust as a kid.
Last console I bought was a PS4. Because I like Playstation.
 
the first console i paid for was an Xbox 360 as that was the first console released after i started working in 2002
 
First console I owned was a Radofin 1292, showing my age a bit there. Bought by my parents who couldn't afford an Atari VCS 2600.

The first console I bought with my own money was a Sega Master System. R-Type, Rastan and Ultimate IV were some of my very favourite games.

Last one was a Playstation 3, purely to play Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, GT5 and GT6.

No doubt a Playstation 4 will be purchased on the release of GT7
 
First was a NES - the turtles pack(!) I think I was more excited about Mario Bros 3 than I have been about any release since. I did have a V20, C64, Amiga etc too.

The last was a Wii U - I hadn't owned a console for over 12 years prior to this buy.
