Never played a MMORPG before but feel the need to try now.

I would prefer first person and free to play if possible. What are my options?

Guild war's, Eve. RFonline what would you recommend for a first jump into the world of RPG?

Thank's

WoW, RFOnline, Eve etc all require subcriptions monthly.

I'd say for a first time, it would have to be WoW 100% as it's such an easy game to get into and it's a great laugh aswell. Also you don't need to play it 24/7 such as RFOnline to level and take part in things. Eve is also good from what i heard but not my kind of game, also GuildWars is pretty good but again not my kind of game.

Although it isn't free (in fact, its popularity means the retail price has remained high) I would have to agree that WoW is by far the most "accessible" and "fun" MMORPG that I've played.

WoW definitely. £8.99 a month isn't a lot. You will be so drawn into the game that £8.99 will seem peanuts. Prepare to say goodbye to your life too :p

Don't let children ruin the game for you. The childish ones are just a minority.

i thought about this last week and after trawling the net found anarchy online. the best thing about this is that it is free to play. There are expansion packs you can pay for but if you want to see how it goes have a go at it.

I know that some of the more mature mmorpg players probably think this is not in the same class as eq2 wow eve etc but it is great just to get a feel about it.

lol that AO thing still going, im now getting emails to upgrade my account for it all the time, i didnt mind it as something to do and the noob island was ok but i found once i left it i was kinda just dumped into the game with no real idea as to what i should be doing, might resub for it as i think my old free account is done by now

I myself found it completely impossible to get into. Certainly moreso than EQ2 and WoW. Maybe I'm just not patient enough from the start.

I'd recommend World of Warcraft with their free 14-day trial if you can get one. I think EVE Online will be a bit difficult for someone new to MMORPG's to grasp although it is a very good game once you're into it.

WoW will teach you the basics of character control, dealing with "nerfing", etc.

I would say WoW for your first, if you like it try Eve. If you don't want a sub look at Guidwars, Not a real mmo but is only £20 and then free. (but there will be expansions).

Nothing wrong with AO.....played it for 2 years when it first came out. Buts a lot more difficult to get into than the likes of wow......its got a bit of a learning cliff really.

If you dont mind paying then WOW is the only way to go as your first MMORPG if you ask me. as Eve suffers from the same learning cliff as AO does.

For a fun, easily accessible pick-up-and-play game, I'd say CoH beats WoW. It certainly hasn't got the depth - but its huge fun, easy to play, easy to get groups and with the 'sidekick' system you can play with any of your mates at any time, no matter what your level is.

I wouldn't touch WoW with a bargepole unless I knew some people who were playing it - I only play with my personal mates now - the community is the worst I've ever come across.

I never played a MMORPG till last year I tired Guild War first mainly as there was no monthly subsription. I played it solid for about 6 months & loved it, although most say its not a true MMORPG it still shares many aspects. I eventually got bored it & deceided to give WoW a try as everyone raves about it. I had a 14 day trail & tried & tried to get into but I just couldn't. Found it very unfriendly, complicated & geeky for a MMORPG virgin. However the good part is that I ordered WoW just before I discovered the 14 day trail so I didn't use my retail key & sold it on Ebay for an amazing £65 as the winner wanted another key!

Anyway for the past few weeks I have been playing COH & find that much more easy going & very friendly. You can buy it for about £8 in PC world & you get a free trail with it.
