First/New build - First day of activation, strange issues aready

Samsung as well if you want to go by Seagate brands. However, it works for virtually ALL drives regardless of manufacturer and the generic tests don't discriminate between brands. Its the repair/remap part of the test that is brand specific.

As for the OPs problems, memory management is usually just that, memory related. Memtest it and enable any XMP profiles etc.. sometimes not doing that can get the wrong paramaters set especially where vtt and vdimm are concerned, could be a timing issue as well.

I suggested a bootdisk with all the diagnostic tools. I actually use spinrite myself specifically for HDDs, I had already said the HDD tools are pretty much universal. The bootdisk had memtest and im sure prime95 is included aswell to test stability......handy lil disk to own.

Setting the XMP profile is a good idea too, yes you will find it in the BIOS and it automatically sets the speed and timing of the RAM. That could well cure the issue.

Edit: Great, and upon trying to download VirtuMVP I'm being told that an integrated graphics device was not found.

Drivers again i'm afraid. Get the latest lucid drivers from here. Then install the software again, hopefully that will cure the problem.

When downloading the On/Off Switch driver I was prompted to restart my PC, and Windows is hanging on the shut down screen again. This is not a good time to force a deactivation and this is starting to really annoy me, I'm just staring at an eternal shutting down screen at the moment.

Also almost every single time I downloaded the driver software Windows kept telling me that it might not have installed properly. Why can't this be simple?

I should also note, I haven't bluescreened for a while now, the issues now seem to be these driver problems, not recognising hardware and software, etc., and Windows refusing to turn off without being forced to do so.

Gah, now this when trying to download Intel Smart Connect Technology, although it doesn't list my motherboard with the rest. But that doesn't explain why this even appeared.

And yes, I'm currently trying to work my way through them and a lot of the downloads are choosing to fail.

Edit: Similar issue with Rapid Start Technology:

Think i would just reinstall windows and get it up and running with all updates and then install your utilities. As Honosuseri Said "baby steps first".

Also a couple of things i would do

Try different sata ports, (if using sata 3 swap to sata 2).

Use IDE/SATA mode instead of AHCI as you do not have a ssd.

I would start a fresh as stated above and install windows plus all windows updates and then start installing drivers and then apps etc.

On a side note and may not be the case for you but, what i have seen before is memory passing a memtest and still clearly being faulty.

As something of an update, I spent most of that night trying to download the correct drivers etc., and eventually it started to accept them. I don't know if it had anything to do with the order, but it did. The only problem with the drivers now is that some Virtu MVP file apparently doesn't exist somewhere and is preventing the download.

Aside from that is my new main problem, Windows Update. It always sticks on "2 of 2 updates downloading" and won't stop even if I press stop or end processes. This is preventing me from turning off the PC and means I have no other option than to force a deactivation. When attempting to use the "System Update Readiness Tool" recommended by Windows to fix similar issues, it usually freezes when scanning for installed software. It has now managed to get further than it has before and is currently downloading "Hotfix for Windows (KB947821)" so I'll see how this turns out. Going back to an early restore point isn't really an option at this stage or I'll be forced to go through all of the driver issues again.
