First new build in a while.

And whatever cmndr andi said is correct so stick to his ideas.

@up

Bad choice of the PSU, there are cheaper and better mobos, weak cooling solution as well. And the HDD chosen is a no-no.

This could be a dumb question/comment but...

I had a look at that cooler, it gets some good reviews...tho Im going to be getting a LGA1156 Mobo....which according to ocuk it doesnt seem to be compatitible? Is this the case and I need to look at a diff CPU cooler?

Good spot, that particular cooler will not fit on a P55 (s1156) board. However, if you look around, there is a new revision that does come with s1156 mounting - unfortunately not on OCUK.

As an alternative to the Titan, this is what i'd go for. Here is a review.

So here is an almost final build for me now.

The GFX card is still out of stock, and I got a message back saying there was no ETA for this card to come back in stock. Ill just need to hold on for it I guess.

Ive tried to go for a solution that gives me good cooling, with a case with a lot of space to go crossfire etc and potential upgrading and overclocking possibilities in the future.

I am considering dropping my PSU a bit, and putting the difference in cost in changing from the Antec 1200, and going for:

I also need to get a decent DVD drive as well since I dont plan to use my current version.

After that Im looking at a seperate budget of £160 or there abouts to look for a 23" or 24" monitor....but Im guessing that budget wont get me a great monitor?

But here it is so far!

Any final thoughts/opinions? :)

Also just wanted to say thanks for all the help so far. Ive had a lot of help putting this together so cheers :)

Monitor is all sorted -

lol that'll be a great choice to go with that system.... Looks fab and maybe look at getting a blu ray drive as well? Don't cost a lot more extra then a DVD Rom, and you'll be all good to go...

Good luck building it, you'll have some fun with your new system, its very close in spec to mine and I've been enjoying some really good 1920 x 1080 60fps gaming.... Once you go from 1280 x 1024 - 1920 x 1080 gaming you just can't go back... lol

Its a nice looking monitor indeed....but no HDMI slot is a bit of a worry since I was hoping to use it in conjuction with some PS3 gaming etc from time to time :/ Its the only thing stopping me from getting that monitor atm :/

I am however quite tempted by the Philips 230C1HSB 23" Full HD LCD Monitor or the Samsung SyncMaster P2450H 24" Monitor
Cant link since its not ocuk links :/

Im sorry to bump this back up...

But I am just about to confirm my stuff, when I noticed something.

The mobo I have been recommended several times is:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-203-GI
Gigabyte GA-P55-UD5

The memory Ive been recommend is:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-042-GS
G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz

Ive noticed that the motherboard lists this with regards to memory:
Memory: 4x DDR3 DIMM 2200 / 1333 / 1066 / 800 MHz

Nothing about supporting 1600MHz.

Dont want to buy this without having this cleared up.

Considering the build is strictly for Gaming, if the mobo/memory is non compatible should I consider swapping the memory to a lower speed, or change the mobo?
ie this mobo lists 1600mhz as compat memory:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-256-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1693

Or am I just getting confused over nothing?

Thanks :)

I just checked the gigabyte site for the UD5 board.

It does support 1600MHz RAM:

Fast response thanks :)

The only reason I got suspicious was because another site (not ocuk) listed two different UD5 boards....it had the same board OCUK had and listed the same memory reqs, and a P55A UD5 which was quite a bit more expensive but DID list 1600mhz.

But Gigabyte list both boards on their site and both do say 1600mhz, so guess I should go with what they say on their own website :)

Didnt want to huit buy till I had clarification :D
