Why would you pick up a ford over a merc (apart from insurance)?

Also my Dad said he would buy a car between 1-2k. I can probably convince him to spend more. Whats a good amount for a quality auto thats going to be reliable? Where is a good place to look (websites, dealers)

that merc is crap. we had 2 and they were nothing special nor particularly well screwed together.

well yes, on the whole, large cars depreciate more than small cars. mainly due to the fact that they cost more

Do you want an out and out speed machine or something which will be a comfortable cruiser but has a bit of punch if needs be?

Is it for your 1st car?

I had a £200 1982 Mini for mine, got me from A to B and lasted for years. Cheap insurance too :-)

Im 100% serious. Its just I only started looking a few days ago, with no prior knowledge of anything to do with motors. I havent figured exactly what I want, and I don't think it matters. As I just need something to get around in, thats midly pleasant to drive. The mini cooper looks absolutely brilliant in my eyes and from the sounds of it, is quite reliable, reasonable insurance and a good drive.

you actually got a license yet?

if its your first car, you dont need to spend 4k on a car unless money isnt a thing to you, go with something small and cheap......plus i dont think you understand the insurance side of things if u are a new driver

its certainly not cheap!
