First new Valve IP in years announced: Artifact

There will never be a Half Life 3 imo. Absolutely no reason for them to do it now.

If they are so minted now from Steam you'd think someone at Valve might have a bit of passion left to actually make the final part to one of the most critically acclaimed series of all time. If they are killing it with Steam then surely they can afford to develop a new Half Life, it's not like it would sell badly...

As time passes the percentage of gamers that have actually played both Half Life games gets smaller and smaller and it becomes a bigger and bigger risk to make another game in the series. Add on that it doesn't matter how good it was it would likely be a disappointment after all this time and there is just no reason for Valve to do it.

Yep that's how I see it. The time has passed, I think at some point Valve were working on it but didn't know what direction to go and it went into limbo as steam took off. Haven't most of the key bods behind the series left Valve now?

That being said I wouldn't be surprised if Valve dropped a VR title based in the HL Universe.

Valve promised us episodic HL games. We had EP 1&2 out of 3. So at least one missing!

Lets face it we are never going to get another half life game ever again.

Apparently they've let so many people go, they aren't in a postition to develop a AAA title like HL3 atm anyhow - they'd have to massively staff up again.

We know that most (all?) of the people who made HL2 + episodes have since left the company, including their story/script writer.

Valve are Steam, TF2 hats and DOTA skins. Don't expect anything else. They have so much money from these that they don't need to release another game, ever.

And their flat structure, combined with no pressure to release anything, ever, means that most projects lost steam (no pun intended :p) and get canned anyhow.

Valve are to games development what Duke Nukem Forever was... the difference is, they can't ever run out of money, so nothing ever need be released.

Yawn Dota, pure sheep=coin for valve, what i don't understand is why on earth don't they make more games, they have a ton a cash just sitting there, just gabe just lie there eating hotdogs rather boring just making money for the sake of it.
