First Overclock E6660 = 3GHZ

Yes of course, you just change the settings back in your bios. And an E6600 stock is 2.4 :)

Oops yes sorry 2.4 :p

Would you recommend overclocking to 3Ghz? Once I have good cooling etc.

Whats wrong with overclocking it now? You have an AC7? I have an AC7 and am at 3.5ghz, you could get 3ghz on the stock HS and fan!

Currently I'm recieving temps of around 45-50C at idle on both CPU cores. This is because I didn't apply any thermal paste, and only used the rubbish pad that was on the AC Freezer 7 Pro. I'm going to get myself some paste, and some paste washer-offer stuff :p And then I'll get overclocking ;) Do you have a guide I could follow to overclock the CPU?

Thanks,

Marky

I used the thermal paste that come with the AC7 Pro and my temps are fine... you sure its seated correctly? The stock paste on the bottom of the AC7 is Artic Cooling MX-1 paste (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=TH-000-AR&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=27) to my knowledge, not as good as AS5, but good enough.

You shouldn't have any probs really, I would deffo check the seating of the Cooler... make sure all 4 lugs are in their holes!

I'd follow the sticky guide on this forum for clocking it, its very easy to follow (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17612922). I dont have your board, so cant really tell you how to clock it Im afraid.

I'm 99.9% it's fixed correctly in. When I built the system, I remember that I made sure it was a nice squeeze :)
Just brought some paste and cleaner, so I'll post the results by around Wednesday when I recieve it :)

Ok, good luck!

Ok I have removed the CPU Cooler and cleaned off the Zalman thermal paste and have used Artic Silver, temps are now 34c to 36c at desktop

I will now try overlock again to 3GHZ and see what they move to

Just shows how good Artic Silver is

hi am useing core temp but it tells me my voltage is only 1.3500v but in the bios i have set it to 1.4

Ignore that, thats not a representation of your current Vcore. I could be wrong, but I think the VID is your CPUs "stock" voltage.

Its not what your current vcore is at though, and that willprob never change. The only tool I use that I feel is most accurate is PC Probe, but thats an Asus thing, Everest is useless for me too (2.19v... I don't think so :) ).

What with the blue text aswell... that wasn't a spoiler :D
