Ok here goes
My rig is about 2or3 years old consisting of:
Asus P5Qpro turbo
Intel Q66000go 2.4 with a Zalman cpu cooler (I had to cut a corner to make the thing fit)
1x Corsair twin cm2x 20048-6400c4dhx
1x Corsair twin cmx2 1024-6400c4dhx
1x GeForce 9800 GTX+
Antic 900 case
750w power
Windows 7x64

Nothing special but it done what has been asked of it.

So I’ve been doing abit of reading on the net about overclocking and have had the week off so thought I’ll give it a go. People have been saying with a Q6600 it will go to 3/ 3.2 MHz no prods and totally stable. So that’s what I done fsb to 333 ratio to 9 cpuvcor 1.35. looked ok at 55 running MOH, tried a test stress using prim95 and it froze, I turned off cle and loadline, froze on stress test .

The next day I wiped out the cpu cooler and re-sat it. In the bios kept fsb to 9 cpuvcor down to 1.290, n/bv 1.4, fsb 100, ddr-f to 800, dram v to 2.10 and kept all other setting to stock. Done a intel burn test- passed, tried prim95- within 2 minutes it froze.

Core speed flicks form 2.4 and 3MHz but that’s down to the power saving setting, which makes no sense cos iv turned my fans up and I’ve had to turn off standby (it doesn’t like loading back into windows.)

Can anyone out there give an opinion on this clock, make any suggestions or say that its crap and go back to work..

thanks
ben

Turn on "load line calibration"
Turn off "C1E"
Turn off "Intel speedstep" (if you can find it, I cant find it in the new bios I installed)
Make sure your memory voltage is @ manufacturers spec, mine was booted @1.8v all the time even when its rated 2.1v

I can show you all my settings for 3.2 if you want.

Nice one, thats stopped the core speed flicking. Manufactures voltage for memory is 2.10v but i will lower it, Is it worth setting it to 4-4-4-12(manufacturers spec?) I'm still trying to get me head round the FSB with ram.

Sorry for not getting back sooner, let me post my settings for 3.2 tomorrow. had a drink just not in that "place"

update.....

I now have a stable 3MHz pc.

Thanks redshadow
with your help and upping th core voltage too 1.310, it has stopped crashing on a blend test.

temps are good to........

If your still willing ill like to push to 3.2

Dang sorry mate, said I would post my settings, I will, my computer is in bits right now, waiting for a new case to come in tomorrow.

Please remember to check back I will post the settinga as soon as the new case has been fitted.

Right few things, RAM settings I set at below your rated but it matters not until your fine tuning an overclock.
My NB voltage is most likely a little high for 3.2GHz overclock but its well withing operational standards.

My rates voltage for my RAM is 2.1, I dont know yours:

Settings are 100% prime stable for 4 hours.
