Hi all,

Im new and have a dilema on my first PC build.

I currently have the following:

AMD - Ryzen 9 9900X Processor

Klevv Cras V DDR5 32GB Ram

Samsung 990m Evo Plus PCie storage

CORSAIR - RM750e Modular ATX PSU - 750 W

CORSAIR - FRAME 4000D RS ARGB ATX Mid-Tower PC Case

MSI - PRO B850-P WIFI AM5 Motherboard

MSI - MAG CORELIQUID i240 240 mm Liquid CPU Cooler

I am torn between MSI MPG URX 4k Oled monitor along with the 5070Ti RTX or just go for the MSI 272QP 1440p Oled with the 5070 RTX?

Maybe a combo of the URX 4k with the 5070?

My son and I arent massive gamers, my son more than myself but it isnt every night, if anything we both have Ps5s too. I will be doing a lot of business work, trading, video editing (nothing massive, Insta360 footage for my socials etc).

Im new to PC builds and i am way out of my depth but i need to learn, the high end is probably way more than i would need but it would be nice to have and use if needs be.

Any help would be appreciated and i am new to this so take it easy ;)

Evening,

Can you please give this a read and pop a filled in template into your current thread:

There's a lot of experienced people on here who are happy to help, but the more information we have out of the gate the easier things will be for you.

The difference in gaming performance between a 5070 Ti and a 5050 is enormous. A 5050 is barely 1440p capable (at least, in newer games).

1440p is more convenient to have than 4K, just because it is more affordable for the PC parts. Though, 4K does revert nicely to 1080p, if your apps don't support interface scaling.

Considering your usage, I'm not sure OLED is the right move. They're great for movies and games, but for primarily 2D work usage, a good IPS is fine.

9070 GRE and a 1440p IPS monitor would be a good balance between capability and price. Going for a card slower than that doesn't make sense for 1440p and definitely not for 4K.

Apologies, the post was meant to read 5070Ti RTX or 5070 RTX, its between the Ti or not

Purchase Timeframe: ASAP

Budget: £600 for the monitor or two at £300 each. GPU 800 for the 5070 or 1200ish for the Ti.

Usage: Regular every day use, not a massive amount of gaming, more so my son than I but like i said the option would be nice.

Preferences: MSI and Nvidia

Current Hardware: All stated components

Peripherals: Keyboard and mouse

Special Needs/Requirements (inc Wi-Fi): N/A

Why have you decided on those GPUs? Do you need Nvidia?

The 9070XT is broadly on par with a 5070Ti and is currently from £799 vs a 5070Ti ~ £1,100

you could get a 4k 32" OLED + 9070XT for ~ £1,300 total if you wanted

They're both 1440p capable cards.

4K is a push for the 5070, though it can do it comfortably on older or non-AAA games, and with upscaling.

Given what you've said about your usage and the casual gaming, I'd be worrying more what monitor setup (screen size, resolution and panel type) is most beneficial for your 2D work/apps than the gaming.

the 5070 (non-ti) for £800 is absurdly poor value tbh, so is the 5070ti at £1100
the 9070xt is in the 5070ti performance tier, for £800
though tbf, all the gpu prices are absurd at the moment due to "AI", but if you have to buy...then you have to buy.
the prices are what it is...

Honestly ive always had an interest in building a PC, ive been using AI to help me along with a decent build and ive seen guys running the nvidia stuff with the DLSS and it looks impressive.

I feel the 32inch is too big for me, even on a 80cm deep desk it seems huge.

I dont know much about the XT range, ive been learing as i go with this, that does sound good though.

I wanted a 32inch Oled, went and sat infront of a few and thought it seemed a little big for me, even on a deeper desk. I had settled for a 4k 27inch Oled and purely just for the visual experience it would give me but im starting to think its maybe somewhat overkill, also i think im underrating what a 1440p can do! Ive nothing to judge this off.

Well, screen size doesn't give you more workspace, the resolution does, but that's no good if you find the user interface unusable and have to rely on scaling.

4K in a 27" monitor is very high pixel density, which also means (natively) tiny icons, but it does give you more usable workspace and (potentially) sharpness than a 1440p monitor.

OLED can have issues with text quality compared to IPS, but newer gens/models are less so.
