First PC, need some advice

I didn't know it was possible. I do feel tempted to try it, but the laptop is getting pretty old. It's likely to fail me in a number other areas.

On re-reading your OP, I agree that it would not be enough for your requirements, but it is a cheap enough upgrade and would probably be worth it to whoever gets it next (including you if you keep it as a spare).
